Does Vaseline on goalkeeper gloves improve grip? Apparently used by some professionals, including Arsenal's Aaron Ramsdale, we tested this glove grip hack theory so you don't have to!

We Don't need any Vaseline We have that power to save a goal

i put it on in wet weathers and does work but not in dry conditions

It was dry when I used it, I can’t imagine it working in wet weather!

I used to to this in trainings because Vaseline make the gloves not as dry therefore making it nit as slippery

Apparently it ruins the latex long term, makes sense for pros to use it as they can get new gloves whenever they want

@@Andy1it's kind of like the whole glove glu debate, some people love it but some people say it makes the gloves unusable in the future. For me nothing beats good old fashioned bit of water before games or training

@@michael.stephenson water-that’s what I’ve always used! Tried glove glu on some old gloves and I really didn’t like it, Vaseline seemed better

Vaseline does RUIN the gloves' latex in the long term, because it alters the latex's CHEMICAL composition. I read around that a few months ago, and I found that repeated use of Vaseline starts a chain of chemical reactions that transforms the palms from something soft, rubbery and moist into something dried out and brittle. If you want to VISUALLY understand the difference, imagine a pair (same brand and model, used for an identical number of games, used on the same ground type and by keepers with more or less same attributes), the FIRST pair NEVER met Vaseline and the SECOND was SLATHERED with it before every game. You will find that the palms of the Vaseline saturated pair would be far more damaged than its Vaseline free counterpart due to latex embrittlement. That is because the latex would literally FALL OFF/FLAKE UPON IMPACT with the ball ------> This is the VASELINE EFFECT (Honestly, YIKES!) Gloveglu isn't bad, but its use isn't mandatory, because water or any sugary sports drink (Powerade, Gatorade or Lucozade) would be more than enough. Hope this makes it clear WHY keepers need to AVOID RUBBING VASELINE on their gloves.
