I hate to be one of those tubers that whine about how we just saw the whole movie in the trailer, but in this instance I cant help but feel this was much worse. They showed a critical scene that I wish was left for us to discover. Finding the body, the expression on Chiwetel's face, Julia's anguish, I think we all would have been equally shocked if we all had no idea. But no, they showed it, and I feel they stole that moment from everyone. Full Trailers kill movies...

Actually the original plot of the movie is triggered by the murder case so if you see it it doesn't make much difference in the development of the movie. Sorry for my english.

Heaven Miusik It's not so much the plot I care about. Just that one particular scene would have had a greater impact if kept undisclosed. Prisoners, Zodiac, and recently True Detective, these crime dramas are perfect examples of keeping audiences involved in the investigative process by establishing an emotional link with the viewer. When they find dead bodies, uncover clues, connect the pieces, we're right there sharing the shock, forming theories, speculating. And your English is alright : )

I remember the first time I watched the original Argentinian movie, it was after a long study session with two classmates during finals week, we decided to cool our heads off and go downtown to the movies. It was late and this was the only movie screening at that time, we knew nothing about the plot just wanted to think about something else for a while. Boy that movie was a really pleasant surprise, stellar writing with an engaging plot, charismatic actors, some humor here and there. The movie eventually won an Academy Award later that year.

Probably the most important things both the love story in it and the relationship with his alcoholic friend who died for him are actually the most amazing parts of this story, both missing on this remake. I guarantee you will not regret watching it. Everything the soundtrack and the picture on the film are a master piece.

You see I'm just looking out in the interest of good, decent cinema, Hollywood has grown so full of shit that not only are they running out if ideas, but they steal from the ideas of great artists from Latin America, not for the sake of Art, or paying homage to a Film, but for the sake of money, I do not give a shit what you think of my opinions. It's based on an argentinian film (if I'm not mistaken) of the same title (_El Secreto De Sus Ojos_ ), although the original takes place in the 60s or 70s. However, if they don't mess it up you're in for quite of a twist at the end.

Angie Barr I hope they don't put up too many annoying obstructions during walking scenes, too many fuzzies, or switch view too fast or overuse face close ups. I don't even watch TV anymore except for some anime and other cartoons online. Supernatural though was kind of alright, the two leads were actually real men who act and carry themselves like men.

@Godzilla52 8 жыл бұрын
You know, its been a few years since I've seen the Argentine one, but I'm 90% certain that they changed a bunch of stuff around. The original was never a revenge story, it had deeper implications than that. Plus I'm pretty sure Ricardo Darin's character didn't work with the person who knew the murder victim. And it was some dudes wife/girlfriend who died, not a female characters daughter. It feels like they're cutting out the substance from underneath the movie. Now I'm not opposed to a remake doing its own thing if it can do it better (The Departed for example). However, this just seems cheap. It's taking what was original, thought provoking and compelling in the Argentine version and turning it into a generic and by the numbers thriller with most of its substance taken away. The Argentine movie was one of (if not) the best movies ever made in Argentina. The remake will be extremely lucky if it's even one of the best American movies of the year, which it most likely won't be judging from the trailer.

If you are considering watching this movie, I URGE you to first watch the original. El Secreto De Sus Ojos was an absolute master piece, regardless of any opinions about this upcoming film. Argentina truly blew me away, there is no doubt in me on why the original won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film in 2010. They already changed a lot of major points in the "American" version and it will definitely not be the same movie. However, that makes me even more persistent on watching the original!! I am very curious to how this film will come out.

maybe i'm biased because i am an argentine, i watched the original and absoloutely loved it but you know, i don't think it's the kind of film that you can re-make. first of all, there was the historical background of the film which was the military dictatorship in argentina. that was a huge part of the film and what i thought made it brilliant. on the other hand, there was a certain soul to the original, a certain i don't know, "argentinism"? i'm not really sure, but it's something that really, at least for me, made the film perfect and not to sound rude or anything, but you americans don't have that. it isn't a criticism or anything but it's part of our culture i guess the expressions, the way of acting, the insults, i don't know. it's just not "re-makable". btw, from what i see of the trailer, this films i nothing like the original.

The reason of the remake is that Americans usually don't like watching films with subtitles and when a "foreign" movie gets success, Hollywood wants to copy it. That's what happened with "Les Intouchables" (a French 2011 film), they did a remake in 2018. I really agree with you, the original "El secreto de sus ojos" is a masterpiece. I'm European and I'll never forget this movie.

Gábor Vág What I meant by "trying to be dramatic" is that she is trying to do a dramatic role and failing. She has been dramatic in those films you've mentioned but it doesn't seem she is accomplishing the full effect of being dramatic. But, either way, we can't really know until the movie comes out

The big trouble with this movie its that come back to an stereotype, a revange, a good police, a lot of drama... but don't show how a real life can be, withou real justice, withou love, empty, real people trying to fight with real life (that takes a lot of years and patience). I love the original movie, it is only a Hollywood's thriller.

As an independent movie, it could work... But if that's suppoused to be a remake of "El secreto de tus ojos" it's poorly made They coudn't even say one of the most important dialog scenes well, "...he can dump his car, but nothing is going to make me stop" that final part has nothing to do with the original movie! "...a man can change his car, but the only thing he can't change is his passion"

Why did they change the story? "El secreto de sus ojos" is, in my opinion, one of the best argentinian movies ever. It makes pefect sense if they modify customs (change the football parts for another sport more popular in the US). But the movie was perfect as it was.

As an Argentinian I think that this movie is going to be really good, I mean it has an amazing cast and plot, but I still prefer the original one, not only because it is Argentinian and well is my country and my language but the book, and the football passion that Sandoval (now Julia Roberts' character) has its just brilliant, and it's weird that now we are going to see him as a woman PS: sorry for the tipping mistakes
