The Skrulls did not deserve the show, like a side story type of thing. I was expecting Marvel to, like how they did with Thanos, hint at existing characterS (MAJOR characters) being skulls. And introduce them in small open ended scenes like they did at the end of WandaVision and Spider-Man FFH, but again with MAJOR characters and having them be evil. Once I saw they were made into a Disney+ show, I knew they weren’t going to take them as seriously, but I feel like they should’ve. I honestly would’ve preferred the Skrulls to be the next Thanos equivalent big bad instead of Kang and leave Kang a little later down the line

That was terrifying. I know skrulls are insidious but I've never seen their potential realized so well. It's okay for them to be used in normal situations, but a race of doppelgangers rightly should appeal to conspiracy theory level suspense.

Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes (2010-2012) series did a really good adaptation of this storyline. Albeit short, it was still impactful towards the status quo of the series, even though the series ended abruptly

The ending with norman Osborn was straight up a great end credits scene from MCU

The show tried make up for the absence of the Avengers, the X-Men, X-Force and X-Factor by making “Super Skrulls” with Groot dna, Ice Monster dna and Extremis (Iron Man 3). While I wish they made the show just like the comics, it’s just impossible for Hollywood to duplicate what the comics have made. I think the alternative is pretty good considering what they have to work with.

Always told my friends they should do the Skrulls last in all of the MCU. Even if they started now prepping for it, after Kang it could be heavy hitting. The broken friendships and trust. It would be so dope.

An event that had a 6 year build up? Sheer madness! Everyone knows you turn out event after event every 6 months or so on an assembly line.

For the record, y'all can't expect everything from the comics to be adapted. And, even if it was adapted, don't expect the same story. Captain America: Civil War is nothing like the comic book, and that's fine. Hell, it's my all-time favorite MCU movie. Even though I'm aware of the loose adaptation for the Disney Plus series, I'm personally enjoying it. Plus, who's to say that comic book Secret Invasion doesn't happen down the line? Unfortunately, the problem with you "fans" is y'all can't seem to have patience for future MCU stories or moments to pay off. You don't want to wait and see, and that's sad. Right now, currently, Rhodey is a Skrull. Best believe there will be a ripple effect as the MCU continues, and we'll hopefully get more shocking Skrull reveals. Again, be patient.

Hope you do more full stories for older comics, team books and solos for less popular characters.

You know, I am halfway through this amazing video and just had a random thought. This would have been such an awesome underlying plot across all current Marvel films and/or series similar to how Thanos had the slow build up pre-Endgame. What a wasted opportunity by Marvel.

The most missing in the show is the initiative. That and urich's arc. They made it better imo. The initiative even more with the promise of a skrull in every state. Both comic lines would have made the series more interesting and they wouldn't have to need the avengers / ff/ x men teams for it. I will say I enjoy the series but the comic by far is a better story.

Is it the good version? I'm not defending the Disney Plus show. But the whole purpose of secret invasion at the time was to bury the lead on a lot of dumb story plots. There was a lot going on. The avengers were broken up. Tony Stark was acting drastically out of character. Hawkeye was dead then brought back to life with no direction. Thor was dead but was brought back to life and nobody knew. Captain America was dead but was in limbo. None of this made sense. The art was terrible It opened the door to a few things. But the one thing that it should have done was reveal Tony Stark was a Skrull but instead they made a joke about it the whole time. The cover art was good though.

First: The show has indeed little to do with this comic-story, besides Skrulls and the title, but... Second: Keep watching, there are a couple of unexpected reveals in both episode 3 & 4. And... Third: Never judge a show before it's completed. I've liked all available episodes and despite being different from the comics, it's a pretty good show so far, but we'll see if it sticks the landing.

Is funny obviously the comic is the best but don't pretend that the TV series going to the same as the comic because 1. because The Endgame event 2. this is a built up and with see War machine be a Skrull 3. This adaptation from that but different yes like I say the comic is superior but hey you read comic you know the multiverse exist and this is another secret invasion event maybe different and maybe leading to something bigger in the next event who knows.

This was fantastic! As always Comicstorian does a great job with these videos!... OF COURSE the comic version is way better than the TV show... But with that being said I actually enjoyed the show for what it was. I'm not saying everything they drop is great (because there sure are stinkers in the MCU) but I personally enjoy Nick Fury/SHIELD centered content (i.e. Winter Soldier, Black Widow, Captain Marvel, etc). I'm drawn to the espionage, political/intrigue-esque themes. I think what avid comic readers need to understand is that Marvel/Disney is going to use iconic titles to draw people in, but you have to learn to lower your expectations and realize that nothing they release will EVER be source material accurate. Civil War was great but it was nothing like the comic story, same with Age of Ultron, Infinity War was not nearly as epic as the source, etc. Take it as a completely different universe and a different way for the mainstream audience to consume comic related content. For them to produce an accurate Secret Invasion program they would first have to spend YEARS introducing and establishing all of the characters in this and hope that people would follow it all to understand who Starks, Reed, Wolverine, Spider-man, SpiderWoman, Fury, Mar-Vel, No-Varr, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Pym, Hawkeye, Ronin, Black Widow, Jarvis, Galactus, Watcher, Sue Storm, Bishop, Changling, Patriot, Thor, etc etc etc are, and that's A LOT just to lay the foundation for something this epic! You don't have to like it all but just try to lower your expectations when it comes to comic movies/shows. They're never gonna get it exactly right, but sometimes it's a banger even if it's wrong!

Ive enjoyed the show, especially this 2nd half...but the secret invasion story should have been a whole phase, culminating in an Avengers movie to wrap it up.

The comic is better, but the show is a quite good Nick Fury show. To be perfectly honest, they would have needed a HUGE budget to put that comic on-screen.

If it wasn’t going to be Avengers: Secret Wars then it should have been an animated film not set in the MCU. They need to do what do does with their movies that just tell a single story not set in cannon. Movies such as Gotham by Gaslight, Injustice, Long Halloween, Superman Red Son. D/C still had their DEAU but still put out movies set outside that cannon. Disney doesn’t have to make every Marvel project connected to the MCU

I thought this started off with Nick Fury (616) killing one after he stayed the night with one but she was disguise as I think one of the M16 agents Sonya Falsworth 🤔

I was excited to learn about the tv show espicially after seeing the comparison between other storylines to the mcu since they didnt have the same character base like woth civil war or age of ultron. However making it a miniseries was pretty disappointing, honestly i feel like the write way to do it would be to give it its own saga

The biggest sin of the Disney Plus miniseries was not seizing the opportunity to introduce the Secret Warriors. Think about it- Marvel would have have a new team of young, powered heroes- but pre-made, already trained and badass and a bit more hardcore than average. And only loyal to Nick Fury- no Accords or UN or whatever. The team could have been a great way to introduce Ares- father of one of the Secret Warriors as well as introducing Norman Osborn of the MCU... But instead they painted themselves into a corner with a character so laughably OP that any new menace wouldn't stand a chance. Worse, it's not a character fans can really rally around, not being from the comics.

I remember my aunt and uncle showed me this comic because they thought the heroes were evil.
