I can never get enough of the Mana series music, especially SoM, my personal favourite. You did a great job with this song, you gave it a distinct sound while staying true to the original

Ahh, feels good listening to this while sitting right in front of the fan (it's almost 90°F here). I really like the bassline in this one, and the guitar added a nice touch (cool little solo, btw :D). The ending with the bass synth and the sound effects were also lovely, and that delay on the bass drum (wow, I'm all about bass w/ this one) really screams Secret of Mana. Thanks for the good moments with your covers, Steven! Hope you're having a nice Christmas, and here's to an awesome new year!

Thanks for the kind words Ricardo! I hope it's cooled off a bit for you :). The bass in the Secret of Mana soundtrack in general is very creative and fun to play once you get the parts down (which is a challenge for me!). As for the bass drum, I used reverb and delay on the part at the end, but like in the original, I had a very fast delay on all of the drums-- I never thought I'd run my drum bus into an outboard analog delay lol. It's a very interesting creative choice that Hiroki Kikuta made on this track, but to his credit, I think it sounds great in the context of this music. And it's a bit late, but a happy new year to you :)

Looks like I didn't comment on this when it came out over a year ago! I think the textures with recorder here might be some of my favourite you've ever done. Also slick bass lines!

Good god one of my all time favorites! Excellent! Amazing but unusual riffs on these bass lines. You've gotta do THE LEGEND:) I always bug you about that one :p

Yes! That is one of my other favorites from the Secret of Mana soundtrack~ it has such a serious vibe and then it starts grooving :). Someday I'll have to get a marimba to do that kind of track :)

the recorders and the synths make me think of something...hmmmm....trying to think...I want to say one of the Tubular Bells. Now I'm going to have to listen to them all to figure this out, because that would only make too much sense given the name of this song

Thank you for the comment :D. I may have listened to one of the Tubular Bells while working on this project! I don't think it was intentional, though :P. Incidentally, 'tubular bells' is included in my list of 'modular synthesizer' sounds that I wanted to work on for this track-- I ran out of time though.
