OH MY GOSH THIS SONG. This song is the most beautifully haunting melody of my childhood... After so many wonderful songs, it was this one that tore me out of the game and filled me with a sense of reverence, telling me that I was somewhere special and sacred, removed from time.

Never played the game when I was younger, but the track definitely still gives off those vibes.

Definitely in agreement here. The Pure Lands was an interesting place to be, the theme made it that much more magical. Another great place was where the song Ancient Dolphin played. Both places had very fitting music.

This song certainly gave of a magical vibe. I was always induced with this feeling, that the world of Mana had still much more to offer and there were many more secrets to discover, just waiting under the surface, despite this song only appearing at the tale end of the game.

Pure land- such a haunting melody. Probably the most difficult part of the game. Love this cover
@Vsmachok4 жыл бұрын
Yes 100% the most difficult part of the game ..if you wasn't well prepared for this part you wouldn't stand a chance
@DesertRainReads4 жыл бұрын
God yes, the Pure Land was a cast iron bitch to trog through. It is basically a long ass maze, boss gauntlet, and a true test of your endurance all rolled into one. When you got through it all though, it was so frigging rewarding!
@1calv4 жыл бұрын
SPOILER JUST IN CASE ANYONE READING HASN'T PLAYED YET: It was so much of I spike I had to look up what to do. Couldn't even get past the first few rooms without getting killed, and when I did finally get to the snake boss, I was dead in seconds. Once I found out you have to buy the best armor in the game by finding an obscure shop at the tree palace (the area right before the pure land) which is just around the castle, which I never would've thought to look. It was super easy after that, and the bosses weren't much of a threat. I don't know if I can call it the most difficult part, because without finding the obscure shop, it's nearly impossible, but with the armor it's not that hard.
@TrollOmnipotence3 жыл бұрын
@@1calv or grind your ass and magic too I usually dropped there when all my spells were level 7 and lv 70 ish. the best armors in the game is actually in the pure land from random monster drops like the best helmet for example, it can be rough to get them TBH.

'94 was the darkest year of my life...the year I turned 17, growing up in a terrible home situation. Games like SoM and FF6 were my escape. And a year later, when I turned 18 and moved out, it's like a weight the size of a Mana Beast was lifted off my shoulders.

Thank you so much for uploading these songs. Just like many people of my generation (I was born in 1984), Secret of Mana is connected to very strong memories and emotions. As a musician myself (possibly thanks to Hiroki Kikuta), I really like how you play, with such respect to the arrangements and spirit of the songs. Every time I listen to your covers I feel deeply shaken and full of gratitude, it brings me peace and makes me feel more complete. Thank you.

@@OrchestralFantasy still a beautiful rendition regardless. I've been watching your videos for a long time and you've done a splendid job capturing the essence of the originals with real instruments. That takes a Supreme amount of talent and passion for what you do. I also enjoy when you have others collaborate with you too. Does Danielle York have her own KZfaq channel? Because she's very talented and French Horn is not an easy instrument to play. Would love to hear more from her as well.

You play a recorder in there?! How.... How could you produce such a resounding flute and xylophone that it seems combined?! Amazing dude... That Secret of Mana, i gonna play it!
@OrchestralFantasy4 жыл бұрын
I did a little bit of studio trickery. I put a compressor on the recorder that was sidechained to the glockenspiel, so whenever I hit a note there it would slightly turn down the volume on the recorder. I also faded all the long notes out so that it matched the volume decrease of the percussion.
