One of the things I only realized recently going back through MGS5 was these similarities and skull face secretly trying to free the world from the Patriots control. Since the Patriots controlled all information under the English language he knew they're original orders for him to eliminate all other languages would give them full control. But if he could eliminate English they would loose.
@alephnole70092 жыл бұрын
Skull faces speech about unleashing the thirst for revenge onto the future with metal gears would have originally been much more transparent if the original ending with liquid stealing sahelanthropus and starting his path towards the events of mgs1.

This series rules so hard. Quick observation for you. You get the love deterrence tape right outside where you rescue Kaz at the beginning of phantom pain. The location mirrors how skullface left a tape playing Niccolo and Bart outside of Paz's cell in GZ. I know you made the case that it was Ocelot that tortures Kaz before you meet him, but it seems to me like a subtle nod to the practice of torture on both sides and how Kaz will ultimately serve Skullfaces agenda. It also supports the idea that Kaz was receiving aid and parasite therapy from skullface already. As well as underscoring how skullface takes the language and ideas of his enemies and perverts it, making it into their own personal torment.

strangelove describes the ai pod as a "big shell", like the Big Shell in mgs2 that is actually arsenal gear which actually houses part of the same ai she helped to develop. this big shell houses strangelove, and the other Big Shell houses her ai (or at least its successor).
@magnus40013 жыл бұрын
49:27 I always found it a bit annoying that Sahelanthropus, when you have to destroy it in Mission 31, seems to be easier than a giant, heavily-armored WMD should be. It's hyped as something that can tackle whole armies, yet a dude running around with a rocket launcher (or whatever weapon you chose) ultimately brings it down. Obviously, for the sake of gameplay this makes sense, but in terms of the fiction it always felt a bit strange. But your theory that Sahelanthropus doesn't actually need to work, it only needs to appear to be effective, puts this in a whole new perspective.
@LeeAndersonMusic3 жыл бұрын
Don't forget that it's also a walking nuke. Plus the way it's "manually" controlled through Psycho Mantis could also make it less effective than what an AI could've done, I assume.
@Nilon2412 жыл бұрын
I mean, raiden and snake also take down supposedly more advanced Metal Gears with less help than Venom. It's like what Huey said, it's more a paper tiger meant to scare people into submission, than an actual WMD. The real Metal Gear of V is pretty clearly the Walker Gear, in my opinion. Skullface makes them from depleted uranium and gives them just enough metallic archiea to turn them into nukes, giving anyone the ability to become a nuclear threat.
@WackaMei Жыл бұрын
I still believe that the Volgin/Mantis helicopter crash at Dhkelia was unintentional; a coincidence that solved the biggest hurdle in Skull Face's puzzle: how to control Sahelanthropus. Volgin and Mantis were both being transferred by separate Soviet personnell, leading to their accidental communion, which itself led Mantis (by Volgin's coattail) to Dhkelia in response to his "lust for revenge". I know Ocelot, when positing this, might have something to gain from obfuscating the truth... but it makes no sense for the XOF soldiers at Dhkelia to be unaware of Volgin and Mantis if their attack was planned. In fact, I believe that off-screen, Volgin's powers were shut off once Mantis met Skull Face, seeing as his lust for revenge trumped Volgin's mindless rage. This follows the same pattern as what happens when Eli hijacks Sahelanthropus: his lust for revenge trumped Skull Face's.

So heres a question. When that XOF operative tells Skullface that Emmerich has been in touch with "Big Boss", could he possibly mean the real Big Boss, who is supposed to be in the US at this time?
@AarturoSc5 ай бұрын
Nobody knows that Big Boss is 2 guys other than Ocelot, Zero, Kaz and the Big Boss themselves. He reports this to Skull Face because he, Huey, reached out to Diamond Dogs (Big Boss’s military company) when under their surveillance.

Perhaps we don't fully understand psychotherapy in the mgs universe. They were able to mold Medic into a dopplerganger because he spent so much time around Vic Boss. People critiqued how different Ocelot was in MGS V compared to the other missions. Maybe his "role" in MGS3 was an act completely. You can read any of Ocelot's lines from MGS1 in Liquid's voice really. Perhaps he was emulating Liquid's style of talk and think already in preparation of what was to come. Possibly.

38:20 the impression I get from this conversation was that to Zero and Paramedic, the revival of the vocal cord parasite was just a means to an end for genetics research, the actual vocal cord parasite being nothing more than a bi-product of their true intentions, projects like Les Enfants Terribles, and the Gene therapy that would create Grey Fox and the Next Generation Special Forces, as well as the implied Fox Die. So I feel like information control was less of a priority to Zero at that point than genetic control/eugenics, controlling people before they were even born in the first place, which is pretty creepy in it's own way.

First game I ever played was ground zeros on the xbone and I enjoyed it, bought Phatom Pain and thoroughly enjoyed it but had to drop it shortly after due to Destiny and other popular game at the time hogging my attention. After I adulted and finally got funds to build a PC, I got MGSV and since then have visted the story because i cant really play through most of the old game so watching videos if fine with me. I can only imagine someone starting off with MGSV as their intro to the series. Must've been either hard asf or super exciting considering how fun the gameplay looked at the time.
