Yes, it gets cold but it’s all relative. I can’t tell the difference between -35° or -15°, it’s those ND winds that bite you. I spent 5 years in the oil fields and fell in love with ND. My daughter in law works for North Dakota Guarantee and title out of Bismarck. She just transferred to Rapid City to oversee and run offices out of SD for the same company. The toughest thing for me to endure was those winds, winter time or summer time. Hope to move back there one day.

@@michaelholcomb6921 agree 100% I love ND. But if I could change one thing it might just be the wind.

How are you liking ND compared to Cali!?

@@LifeInNorthDakota In short, we love it. There are many cultural differences in ND vs. Cali. California was very similar to what North Dakota is today, back in the 70's. Things like bigger families, safe for young kids to ride their bikes to the store etc. More freedoms here than Cali. I could go on and on. So many talk about how great the weather is in California, but those that live there can rarely enjoy it because you have to work every waking hour to afford the rent or house payment.

Have you lived in North Dakota for more than a year? The winters are not like you say, the wind is almost constant and it stays cold for almost nine months of the year. It is August 8 today and is barely 60 degrees. Last winter was quite mild and almost no snow, which is not normal for North Dakota. I've lived in North Dakota for more than a decade, and grew up MN/ND. North Dakota sucks if you like to be outside and like people and want to grow your own food. When it is finally summer, the mosquitoes and flies are awful. North Dakota has barely anything to do. If you like to live inside, this is the place for you. Oh and good luck finding trees. Bismarck in town has more trees than many square miles in a lot of rural North Dakota.

Not trying to spread hate, but felt like this deserved one (and only one) response. Yes, lived here nearly my entire life. You are correct, it was in the 60s today. Which is 15 degrees below average according to my research. Next week is predicted to be in the 80s again. I’d show pictures of the forecast and average temp but not sure I can in a YT comment. It does get windy here, which I admit. But it isn’t constant. I guess we can agree to disagree about it being a great outdoor state 🤷🏻‍♂️. I love it here. And know many others who love it too. To each their own 🍻 And thanks for watching!

@@LifeInNorthDakota I'm guessing you are basing things off of living in Bismarck. Town living is different from living in the open rural North Dakota. It is less windy, and Bismark tends to be noticably warmer. Also I imagine that pests are sprayed for within city limits. Also, I'm betting you are basing certain things off of having electricity, because if you lose electricity in North Dakota, it makes it pretty tough to stay warm. As long as you continue to have ammenities like electricity, and grocery stores, and the ability to afford those groceries, it's liveable I guess. But I'm glad you like it. I definitely like Bismarck waaaaay more than rural North Dakota. I really don't know how you would be spreading hate by replying. Just because two people don't have the same opinion, doesn't mean anyone is spreading hate. In elementary school we learned about fact and opinion, and that people have opinions. We don't need to agree to disagree on anything, we just each have our own opinions. :) An opinion is how you see something. Doesn't necessarily mean you are disagreeing with anyone, just that you see something a certain way, you don't have to disagree. Keep the negativity out. :)

We have a state income tax. But it is pretty low, like 2%. Not 0% like SD. But not nearly as high as some other states either.

The highest tax bracket in ND is only 2.5% for state income tax. It is one of the lowest rates in the country. State sales tax is 5%. I'm assuming that is where your number came from
