Thank you for this! I’m only 25 but I need a rollator for my Ehers Danlos Syndrome. The rollator is awesome, my joints are super unstable; and it helps me with balance so much.

Great video! I would only add that every time you stop you put on the breaks even if it is for a moment. It may seem unnecessary but it will prevent falls if you get distracted when stopped and then forget it is not locked. Also handle height.

Did i miss it but i didn't see any comments to adjusting the handle height - this is most important for getting the right posture inside the walker. also, no comments ot "A" frame designs (fold from fron to back) compared to "X" frame (European Rollators) that fold from side to side. the big difference is the A frames are much less maneuverable than the X - that is because the backward positioned handles and the seat keep the user more outside of the frame - like pushing around a wheelbarrow. X frames , with the handles at the right height, encourage better posture and are really easy to drive because we stand more inside the device. light years ahead of the A frames.

Trying one of these tomorrow. Given how much I have to lean onto sticks for balance I'm not that confident it's going to suit me.
@AECorner
@AECorner 2 жыл бұрын
Simon, just take it slow and make sure the handle height is adjusted to hit you at wrist level when you are standing upright with your arm hanging down at your side. This will allow you to have the leverage you need on your hands. They are not for everyone,but worth a try. Just be safe and take care. ❤️😊✌🏻 AECorner.com

I finally gave in and bought one at Walmart. I usually use a cane and I plan to keep using a cane for most places. But, needed a walker for the mall or big event with a lot of people. It was getting scary walking in a mall with just the cane, so finally bought a walker. I know when I first used a cane, I had to practice and learn how. Then, later, you finally can use it without thinking. I also know if you buy a different kind of cane, you have to practice on that different cane. So, now I'm learning how to use this walker. Feels scary now, but hoping it will be like the cane, that I will get used to it. I don't have to lean too hard on it (like I can with a cane), but will have to lean a little, yet, lightly. Right now, though, with the walker, I have to walk more wobbly than with the cane. I'm doing a little scissor walking with the walker. Is that okay? Maybe as I practice, I will do better, be more smooth in walking? In other words, if you have problems, you probably don't walk in a normal walking pattern with the walker as you see in demonstration videos. So, my "not-smooth" gait and a little wobbliness, can I still use the walker? I have weakness, balance problems and position sense problems, which also causes me not to walk normal. Different places throws me off and walking becomes harder.

Robin Porter, thank you for your comments. We hope you found this video helpful. The walker will actually give you more support than the cane. The Rollator walker does take some time getting use to because of how easily it moves. We of course always advise to use caution when learning to use a new piece of equipment and recommend consulting with a local physical therapist for your specific needs. Take care! ✌🏻❤️AECorner

Hi Robin - I guess much better than a cane, this the walker encourages even weight when walking while the cane is a "proppy" slow gait. Walkers are like eye glasses - you never know how much you are missing till you get one.

I saw a stroller video here on KZfaq that suggested wrapping leg weights around the front legs of the stroller if the back of the stroller was back heavy to stabilize it. So I'm trying that idea out on my rollator for I sometimes hook the basket up on the back bars in my seat area to use as a shopping cart when we go shopping at flea markets. I do have a walker bag attached to the back bar, but it only holds so much, like my water bottle, a book, etc. And I sewed a fabric liner for the basket too and attached it with ribbons to the basket.

@@bee1411 Hi! I came up with a couple more ideas -- I went to Walmart and bought two small black dog collars -- the twill kind that adjusts and snaps closed and I added those to the back bar to securely hold a shopping bag or my purse, although now I wear a backpack. At first I was going to get a large carabiner clip and use it to hold a shopping bag, but the dog collars will expand more than a carabiner clip. And I noticed that some of the walker accessories now have reflectors, so again Walmart had reflecting bracelets back in the bike area and I got a package of those and wrapped them around the cushion on the back bar. We're going to be strutting our stuff! 🤓

@@Sol-Cutta The basket comes as a separate piece and we lift it out when we want to fold up the rollator. My husband usually folds up the rollator to put it into the trunk of our car and then puts the basket on top of it so he doesn't forget to put it back under the seat when he pulls it out of the trunk.

This may be a silly question, but can I sit on the seat of a rollator and use my right leg to scoot me? I have avascular necrosis in my left femoral head of my knee joint. I am going to be getting a total knee replacement in a few weeks. I am then going to receive a walker from the hospital after surgery. I am currently though having trouble with walking. Needing to bear weight on something. Sometimes I get unsteady as I lean nearly all my body weight onto my right leg. I tried out a cane briefly at Walgreens and felt even more unsteady. I’m not really sure what to do in the next few weeks. I have three small children, ages 6, 5, and 3, and school is about to start back, so I need to be able to do some walking here and there as we get ready for the start of school. Any suggestions?

Amy Renee, we don’t consider any questions silly, we’re glad you asked! I have many clients that do this with their rollators, but it is certainly not as safe as using a wheelchair. I understand your situation though, needing to be up and mobile with support. Most of my clients find it easiest to push themselves backwards while sitting on the rollator, but caution with this needs to be taken when going over any type of threshold or change in flooring due to the potential of tipping backwards. Hope this was helpful. Good luck with your surgery, take care and speedy recovery! ✌🏻❤️ AECorner.com

Nimish Mhatre, thank you for your question. Yes, a two wheeled walker is more stable than a rollator walker. It all depends on how the individual is functioning and their needs. If more weight bearing through the arms is needed, then a two wheeled walker over a rollator would definitely be recommended. ✌🏻❤️AECorner

+marie yenson if you lift the seat, there is usually a thin bar or strap under the seat. If you have a metal basket, remove it. Then lift up on the strap/bar and the legs will fold toward each other front to back. This is as much as it will fold up. If you have further questions let us know. Thanks, AECorner.com

So how do you go up/down stairs with a walker with 4 wheels???? I need a walker and I have no choice but to go up and down stairs, I cannot do everything from my suite and never go out. You are not teaching us all we need to know about the walker.
@AECorner
@AECorner 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Cora, thanks for your question. We did not talk about using a rollator (4 wheel Walker) on the stairs because there is no safe way to use it on the stairs. Having said that most people who use rollators and have to deal with stairs will have two walkers. Some use the rollator only in the home and use a standard walker or front wheel walker in the community or vise versa. Check with a local lending closet, church or senior center to see if they would be able to loan you one instead of needing to purchase it. We would also recommend that you find a local physical therapist that will evaluate your situation and make recommendations for your specific needs. Please do not use your rollator on the stairs. Hope this helps. Please be safe. ✌️❤️AECorner.com

I get it they cannot be used in the ... stairs but it still has to be transported up and down the .... stairs!!! If I could reach though the device I would slap you. I have common sense. But FACT IS THE FUCKING WALKER HAS TO GO UP AND DOWN THE FUCKING SFAIRS SOMEHOW!!! I cannot throw it... there has to be a way of transporting them up and down .... stairs. I am getting really pissed off at people saying it cannot be done and yet this is what is being prescribed to me and I DO NOT HAVE FUNDS FOR IT BEING RIPED OFF STOLEN OR OTHER THINGS. Somehow the fucking walker has to go up and down stairs.
