Hey @Tisa. Make sure you do the proper due diligence and look at the financials for the business and no what it's 1. Making 2. Spending 3. Losing or Profiting. The current franchise owner continues to run the operations until you are fully approved and complete the sale of the business.

Copy and pasting my response from your other comment. Earn more money, spend less- and then save and invest. The strategy of HOW you do that depends on your individual circumstances and skillsets. Start by building the habit of saving and investing as much as you possible can with where you are now. Then figure out a way to increase your income, and always live below your means. Save and invest. Rinse and repeat.

Hi, what are your thoughts on Little Ceaser, Papa Johns, subways, with 50k which is possible to open ?
@TariqJohnson
@TariqJohnson 3 жыл бұрын
Depends on your overall networth. They all have different networth requirements. From what I've read Subway has a $40k liquid money requirement. Research and figure out what the requirements are for each brand. Once you know which one's you can qualify for- research the brands, review the FDD, and talk to existing franchise owners to get a sense of the pros and cons with each one. My thoughts- Little Caesar is a dying brand, sub par product. Papa Johns- Have always like their pizza, they are everywhere although they kicked the founder out of the company for controversial statements- could that affect their success long term? Subways was dying off but has rebranded and stayed relevant, although they don't have quite the excitement that they used to. Email me if you want more insight info@tariqjohnson.com

Hi Tariq, an opportunity to buy an wexisting franchise is available. I’m told the price to pay to purchase the business is typically 2x of annual profits. Would you agree with that? I believe the franchise is managed so it is possibly a semi-absentee ownership.
@TariqJohnson
@TariqJohnson 2 жыл бұрын
2-4x profits is a standard range. Resales can be tricky, there are a lot of nuances and you have to make you structure the agreement very carefully. It’s actually a speciality niche that I help a lot of clients with. Reach out if you want help in the process 🙂 Info@tariqjohnson.com

My wife and I disagree on two franchises. Franchise A is established on the east coast but fairly open in the western US. Franchise B has a good European presence (150 locations), but nothing in the US. Personally, I like B better but it is unproven in the US and seems like it needs to mature some. A has a strong processes and plenty of US franchisee successes. Both are semi-absentee, about 7 to 10 hrs per week. Any suggestions on how to make a choice?
@TariqJohnson
@TariqJohnson 3 жыл бұрын
Interesting scenario Chad. It's all about which one aligns most with your vision, lifestyle, goals and skillsets. If all else is equal- create a scorecard on 10 categories that are important to you. Score them. Highest score wins. Less logical approach is go with your gut.

I'm fresh and new to the while thing trying to do my research in my free time at work. I'm looking to break away from the 9to5 and make my own money. I have a business background and want to start a franchise for the help and support. I'm wanting to come in low for a startup and get a high ROI looking at many different business but no food. And I want to be in the office or out getting new business I don't want to be in the field doing the work even though I know how to the work. I was thinking a carpet janitorial business or a building maintenance or broker for realtor. I have a ton of experience in building maintenance management and remodeling. But I've seen the market crash of 08 and I'm scared to do the "we buy homes" gig. Just looking for some insight from someone who is not a broker sling something

Tariq i have a question, I've worked my whole life (10,5 years experience) in de food industry, i did everything from waiter to fast food restaurant manager and i was thinking of starting a business for myself either Franchise or starting something completely new. I'm not new to putting in a lot of hours as i was working 6 days a week most of my life. Don't mind putting in 7 days if i can make a good profit of it. I'm skilled in what i do and make the customers feel like theyre important. I know i can run a food business and i know i can lead a team. I will be there everyday being the first point of service for my customers and employee's. I do think outside of the box but I'm not sure if I should go with a franchise or start my own business from scratch. What would you recommend reading this text?
@TariqJohnson
@TariqJohnson 3 жыл бұрын
Great question- but realistically man, I can't recommend anything- I don't you and your situation. This is why I do business coaching, because I can get to know my clients and actually give them advise. Here's what I can do - ask you questions. 1. Do you have the capital to open a food franchise? 2. Do you have the time, energy, effort- to come up with a complete food concept- from designing the location, to creating the menu, and everything in between. It's one thing working for someone else- having a guaranteed paycheck and just plugging into a system that already is working. It's a completely different ball game trying to create a business from scratch. If you want more personalized advise- and want to make your vision a reality then apply for my business coaching. www.tariqjohnson.com/consulting

@@TariqJohnson yoo Tariq, appreciate the reply man for real! I do have capital, and i have a place where i can borrow from family if needed. I have the time energy and qualities to run a food business, that i know 100% sure. Just the whole business owner part of it is kinda new to me. I did everything u can think of within a company, ordering food managing the team making programs for the employee’s administrating their hours after work and everything. My plan now was to start a franchise and see how it goes, then if everything works out, hire a manager to take over my daily tasks and start my second business complete from scratch. What do you think of that? Is it possible to open a business from scratch while you also have to take care of your franchise or is that too much to ask off myself?
@TariqJohnson
@TariqJohnson 3 жыл бұрын
That’s great man- sounds like you have really thought it through. A franchise is a great way to learn how to operate a business, with resources from the franchisor. The business side of it isn’t that complex- most people had to learn as they went- myself included. Another potential option is for you to buy an EXISTING non franchise/ or franchise business. I don’t have much in liquid assets, but I’m a homeowner. I’m debating on selling the house, since the market is a sellers market currently. Once it’s sold I would easily have 200-300k in liquid, but I wouldn’t have anything else. Do you think that is a risky move, or would a loan on the house be sufficient? I’m looking into a soap franchise. They are asking for $125,000.
@TariqJohnson
@TariqJohnson 3 жыл бұрын
Michelle, hello again. There are a few different options, you could sell yourself. You could just get a HELOC, and pull the equity and have it ready to use for your franchise. Buying a business is risky - period. No matter what method of funding you choose. It'll be less disruptive to your life to just get a HELOC and not sell. All depends on your goals and life.

Alex- I'm a big fan of buying existing franchises. Proven track record, customers in place, and you're buying it for a multiple of earnings. There are some big risks though- you have to do really good due diligence, because people can fudge the numbers a bit, or not give you the full story- but with the proper due diligence and a strong business foundation, it's a great way to get started or replace/ add income from Day 1.
