(1 Nov 2019) Violent clashes between security forces and demonstrators broke out again in the early hours of Friday morning in Bolivia's capital, in the continued dispute over official election results confirming Evo Morales as the winner without a run-off.
Riot police guarding access to an area surrounding the presidential palace clashed with opponents of Morales as they tried to march on the building in La Paz.
Tensions rose when masked groups attempted to set up fire barricades to block the advancement of authorities.
The government of Morales is blaming the opposition, led by Carlos Mesa, for the ongoing violence which has already led to two deaths.
Backers of Mesa say results from the October 20 vote were rigged to give Morales enough of a majority to avoid a run-off. Morales denies any irregularities.
The Organization of American States sent a team to Bolivia and began a "binding" audit of the election on Thursday.
