It's good that this gate company is trying to reinforce their gates in the fight against terrorist attacks.

Actually if you go to their website, their most expensive gate is the one they used in this video, and it's roughly $46,000, which isn't bad considering what it does.

Three things: 1) These gates (fences) are usually for highway security 2) After one blow, this gate needs hell lot of maintenance(not cost friendly) 3) And Nowadays who come through the border in a car trying to break the gate, be realistic. ***This company should emphasize on highway security and not Terrorism. Who said it is to be used in the US as an anti-terrorist defence? It could easily be used elsewhere in this world (I mean this video is shot at an independent crash test facility, not where the gate will actually be used.) All over the world banks, warehouses, border crossings etc would find use of this.

They should install those as fricking crash barriers on Motorways (Highways for you americans). Obviously you wouldn't have the 'Opening' feature that this gate does, but it would sure as hell stop anything swerving into on coming traffic

Amazing, probably a good idea to put some fixed bollards in too to make the approach curved or whatever. As it stands I guess you could hit it faster with a bigger truck!

Obviously whomever was driving that truck would have been killed but I wonder how much more damage (if much, if any) the gate would sustained if the truck was at its maximum hauling weight. All in all, great fence, great design. Hell I want one now for my house now.

Wait until someone opens the gate, Then test it. Big heavy gates move slow! Also looks like it's broken after the empty truck test. Everyone locked in or out. ( I liked the Bollard crash test video still worked after tearing the cab off a loaded truck) `Fun to watch though`

i agree with you sleepyjond but he does have a point,because wut if the first truck didnt hit the gate just stop in front of it,then you might have a chance but still the truck that jumps afterwards most likely will not withstand the landing so youd have to use dirt bikes or atvs or some shit

Advice for terrorists: A) Prepare 2 trucks for the mission. The first one should have the explosive on the front. The second one loaded regularly. B) Blast a clear way with the first one, and follow up with the second one right after. NB Timing is important! Don't forget a support team of riflemen with Kalashnikovs, who are placed in some distance and who'll spray the startled guards to assist the second truck. Good Luck!

the main problem with this gate is repairing or replacing it afterward is not going to be cost-effective. the impact causes the gate to buckle, will it still open and close? It'll be a security nightmare to install such a contraption, esp because its so heavy you'll need an electric gate opener to open and close the damn thing. It'll be cheaper to get the pneumatic posts.

And these gates will only cost $687,945,987.45 each, but only for a limited time. After this special offer, they will cost much more..

whoa. i see people getting wrong impression on my comment about those three FACTS. by highway i meant, Divider lines and fences on corners of Mountain area roads. No in the middle of the road dummies. And the reason i said that was because with my Project with Houston METRO, we have seen gates that won't even move after the impact. We use those at dangerous narrow roads.
