Tony nominee Alex Brightman and Elizabeth Teeter take audiences on a trip to the Netherworld with new video of them performing "Say My Name" from Beetlejuice on Broadway. Brightman returned to the show as the famous poltergeist after the Broadway shutdown and stars opposite newcomer Elizabeth Teeter as Lydia Deetz.
Also in the company are Kerry Butler, David Josefsberg, Adam Dannheisser, Leslie Rodriguez Kritzer, Kelvin Moon Loh, Danny Rutigliano, Dana Steingold, Michelle Aravena, and Zonya Love. The cast also includes Kate Bailey, Will Blum, Ryan Breslin, Natalie Charle Ellis, Brooke Engen, Eric Anthony Johnson, Andrew Kober, Elliott Mattox, Mateo Melendez, Ramone Owens, Commodore C. Primous III, Nevada Riley, and Graham Stevens.
Based on Tim Burton’s cult favorite film, Beetlejuice follows strange and grieving teenager Lydia Deetz as she meets recently deceased couple and scheming demon, Beetlejuice. When Lydia calls on Beetlejuice to scare away anyone with a pulse, the double-crossing poltergeist unleashes a (nether)world of pandemonium, and the biggest sandworm Broadway has ever seen.
The musical features an original score by Tony nominee Eddie Perfect, and a book by Tony nominees Scott Brown and Anthony King. Alex Timbers directs the musical, with music supervision, orchestrations and incidental music by Kris Kukul.
Connor Gallagher serves as choreographer, joined on the creative team by scenic designer David Korins, costume designer William Ivey Long, lighting designer Kenneth Posner, sound designer Peter Hylenski, projection designer Peter Nigrini, puppet designer Michael Curry, special effects designer Jeremy Chernick, hair and wig designer Charles G. LaPointe, make-up designer Joe Dulude II, and physical movement coordinator Lorenzo Pisoni.
Illusions are by Michael Weber while dance arrangements are by David Dabbon. Also serving are Rachel Vauder as production stage manager, Catie Davis as associate director, Nancy Renee Braun as associate choreographer, and Jenny Gersten as line producer. Casting is by Telsey + Company and Rachel Hoffman and music producing is by Matt Stine.

I don't get why everyone seems to hate Elizabeth. Sophia was amazing and had a really unique voice, but Elizabeth has created her own version of Lydia and her acting is really good (and honestly even better than Sophia's). Her singing is also good as she has range and manages to bring emotion into her singing. You also don't have to exclusively like Sophia, it's okay to like two different versions of Lydia. Instead y'all seem to nitpick every small mistake Elizabeth does, as if Sophia always was flawless. I like them both a lot, in their own ways!

I totally get what you're saying, just for me, I actually don't care for Elizabeth's acting. At least in this scene, I couldn't really pin down the personality of her Lydia-she kinda seemed a little too all over the place. She seems like she acting her character rather than embodying Lydia. But that's just my opinion, she certainly has talent and should be appreciated for it! Her Lydia just doesn't captivate me like past ones did 🤷🏻‍♀️

Both Elizabeth and Sophia are great in the role of Lydia. I like Elizabeth a little better. I think she brings a bit more of an animated personality to the role.

I think as people definitely are over reacting about the slight step down from Sophia's phenomenal performances, for me at least in some parts, its almost as if they're, talking or whispering? I don't know maybe it's just her way of taking on this song but I definitely need to get used to her take on this role.

I love seeing Elizabeth get more comfortable with the character! I honestly think her acting might be some of the best. I don’t understand why people are giving her such a hard time. She is phenomenal as Lydia. She portrays the character in such a great way.

@@Shy__wolf A lot of the videos being posted now (this one and Dead Mom) were all recorded in the first weeks of the show reopening. She’s getting a lot better with the character as she starts getting comfortable with it. You also have to remember she’s never played any role like this before. They cast her for a reason!

I really love the way Alex Brightman brings BEETLEJUICE to life. I haven't seen the show live but even in these videos he just is delightful to watch. Elizabeth is a wonderful Lydia too.

I didn't exactly know what I was expecting with Elizabeth, but after watching this clip, well I LOVE HER!! Her acting is phenomenal, her voice is full of well used emotion, she has a nice singing range, and her body langauge is well done!

I'm a big Beetlejuice fan and I honestly thought no one could play him better than Michael Keaton, but Alex Brightman as Beetlejuice is something else! He's amazing and made me love The character even more than I already did. This musical needs to be professionally taped because I NEED to own it!

FOR REAL! They have the recording of this song I imagine they probably have a full pro shoot of the show?? Look at all the shows that have been released on physical media or streaming. People still pay to see it live. It just allows more people to enjoy the show even if the tour isn't near them or is cost prohibitive

I always have a hard time getting used to new cast members, especially in a production like this where the original cast were all so incredible. However, I am absolutely blown away by Elizabeth's nonverbals.

Sophia and Elizabeth are different people and both play Lydia very well. Sophia does better at portraying Lydia as showing her sad side while Elizabeth shows her side full of anger, both are still amazing they just have different styles

Elizabeth is very different from the others so it’s very unfair to compare to her others. Everybody’s range and voice is different so you have to consider that. I personally think her acting is better than the rest but that’s my opinion. And also, why would the director cast her as one of leading roles If they didn’t like her voice or her acting? She had to be good enough to be on BROADWAY. Broadway is a huge deal, most people don’t make it on so she clearly sparked the directors attention. Just saying

I'm not sure why but I get the vibes that Alex was told to do a real cartwheel for the show but couldn't, so when they rehearsed it he just did that and said "fake cartwheel!" and the producers of the show just loved it and kept it in.

Just gonna add this here: Elizabeth is amazing. Lydia isn't a character set in stone, she does have a right to add to it and change it a bit. She's lovely, if you don't like her then don't watch her, but keep your criticisms to yourselves

I love seeing Elizabeth doing these things but one thing for me is I really like Elizabeth voice but I like Sophia‘s a little better and Elizabeth’s facial expressions more because in the original Beetlejuice Sophia didn’t look like she wanted to be there Elizabeth looks so phenomenal with her facial expressions

She moves more, lighter pitch in her voice. The movement is great! Givesw a lot of character to her! Makes it more lively. I think it's safe to say that Sophia Anne Caruso might have been more gothy, Elizabeth Teeter is a more cartoony one, in an entertaining way.

Sure, but you have to expand your horizon. I have to say, I get annoyed with people being biased to all the OBCs in every show. Elizabeth isn't Sophia, but can I remind you Sophia's voice was unhealthy, she was juuling, and she left- suddenly + unfollowed all her castmates? I can tell you now, if Presley, Dana, or Elizabeth started in the OBC as playing the role of Lydia as not a standby/swing, you would not be impressed when Sophia comes in, saying she might sound forced, or a bit too goth to be Lydia. You never know.

I just don't like her as an actor here. I can see where others do but naaaa. FOR MEEEEEE, she missed the mark entirely. Obviously others see good since she's there but I just feel like she screams "great community theater kid".
