Mack is our 2006 T5 Transporter which was professionally converted when we purchased it in January 2017. We show you around our van and camp set up, including our Vango Driveaway airbeam awning.

I'm glad I watched this video! Very good 👍 I've just spent 3 years converting my T5 van to campervan. When I go to bed in the poptop I stretch a cargo net across the hole to stop my pillows falling down 😂👍

I like the windshield cover. My van came with a thermal cover that is very very bulky. Not good when storage is at a premium

Great video. Can you run hairdryers and kettles without any issue in the van? I’ve read about power cutting out etc, thanks.

Our kettle is absolutely fine- it is a low voltage camping kettle. However we also run a fan heater and tassimo machine with no problems at all.

You were at loch Linnhe, pronounced "Linny". Lol I'm looking for a similar camper, but don't want to spend a fortune. Wish it had a toilet though. Didn't realise that you can get such an awning, that will be expensive no doubt as anything to do with camper vans are. :)

We’re looking at campers and I’ve got lots of tips from your video, thanks! We’ve got 2 small children and was wondering if anyone can advise us regarding the pop top please: would a black canvas make it darker inside or does it not make much difference? The one we like has a light grey canvas but anything to help them sleep longer is an advantage! 😂 Thanks x

Hayley Bowker Thank you! Ours doesn’t let too much light in. But I know lots of people get pop top thermal covers to reduce light, condensation and sound. We’d like to get one to help with the condensation and sound.

Great set up:-). I’ve just got my T5 and those magnetic hooks would be perfect, don’t suppose you have a link? I’ve seen some on Amaobut not sure if they’d be strong enough to hold through the carpet. Thanks Mike

James 3rd We stayed at Bunree campsite which is about 20 minutes south of Fort William. It was a fantastic site with breathtaking views across the loch.

What mattress topper do you have for your main bed?

Adam Routley we bought a memory foam mattress topper from Aldi (they sell them at different times in the year. we ordered online). I then took it out of the cover and cut the foam to fit the shape of the bed, then put the cover back on. 👍🏼😀

Gavin Morgan it did come with the camper. I Know it’s a memory foam mattress. The company who did the conversion provided it. If you contact them with the measurements I’m sure they could help you. It’s buyacamper.co.uk 👍🏼

I Seen a lot of T5 conversions and they all have the same setup.. is that standard? Meaning the only way to convert it other than with a poptop?

Brandon Robinson hi! There are other layouts where there can be a wider full width back seat/ bed and then a kitchen behind the front seats. With that layout you wouldn’t be able to swivel the front seats to face inwards though.

Thanks. We actually bought the van from someone who does conversions ... www.buyacamper.co.uk We just didn’t have the time to do it ourselves. We bought it for just under £17k.

Is it actually cheaper to get a van converted than buy an actual camper?

If you have the time and skills to do it, then yes it’s cheaper. My father-in-law converted his own but got the windows and roof fitted professionally. We however didn’t have the time to do it ourselves.
