This is the TRUE story about how one man, James Altucher, makes millions, loses it all, and bounces back better than ever.
You'll see how lies about being a psychic on Craigslist to meet women, convinces a hedge fund manager to let him manage money (even though he previously lost all of his own money in the stock market), and more.
Even though James is a wildly successful business man (starting 20 companies, 18 of which failed), you'll think he's a comedian...
You see, while James was taking punches at his ego, he was also delivering an invaluable message:
You don't need credentials to find leads, convert those leads to clients, and build a successful business.
All you have to do is CHOOSE YOURSELF.

He seems to be both an complete idiot and a genius at the same time.

This presentation by james altucher is amazing for TWO reasons: 1. Yes, he made millions. Lost it. Made millions again, and lost it again! And now he bounced back stronger than ever. 2. But he shares REMARKABLE insights about success, persuasion, productivity, negotiation, and more. As an example, at 12:30, he shares his secret behind persuading the world's most influential people to work with him. What is it? "Giving." Adam Grant would be proud. Also, at 18:49, he shares his method for idea generation and idea remembering. And he doesn't use anything fancy, like special tools or software. He uses a waiter's pad. I can feel Lifehacker fanatics thinking, "Ima get me one of those." But what I love most is when he admits how he's the world's worst negotiator - and how that led to selling another company for millions of dollars. He shares that at 21:43. TechCrunch and Mashable probably love that. That all said, the reason why I'm sharing this video is simple: You see, while James was taking punches at his ego, he was also delivering an invaluable message-you don’t need credentials to find leads, convert those leads to clients, and build a successful business. All you need to do is Choose Yourself and you'll be a-ok. Choose Yourself: What James Altucher Can Teach You About Starting A Business

Writers have a lot to learn from James - always take the contrarian view even if you contradict yourself, use hyperbole because it gets attention, and make up stories to fit your point

Hashim Warren Normally I don't respond to comments like this but I just don't want people to get the wrong idea. I never have once made up a story. I don't use hyperbole, and I don't take a contrarian view for the sake of it - I take the views I strongly believe in. I strongly believe that when people focus on success from within, then all external change can happen. If you want to clean up a dark room, you have to open the window and let the light in.

lol... James Altucher, what a lovable character. Kind of a mix between Jim from "Taxi" and Kramer from "Sienfeld" And He knows how to repeatedly make and lose more money than anyone else I ever heard of. What a interesting character! Hey James, I am back on your mailing list. P.S. Hey Derek, James makes you look stiff on stage, in this video. lol Thanks for sharing. And thanks for the smiles I got watching it.

I'm just 13 minutes into the video, but had to comment because what James Altucher just said about "giving" first is the same philosophy that Pat Flynn has and its worked beautifully for both of them!

I wish more actionable information about the subject of positioning yourself would have been brought out in this video. He shared a few but was def looking for more actionable type of content. I would recommend anyone watch this if your looking for more education based content on the subject of positioning. But if you dont mind a little humor with just a little education than this may be a fit for you. But I was looking for more actionable content.

Derek - I have something to share with you on this video that might help you and James ... will you pop me a quick email. it's important (I think). And I suspect James can likely fix it - to his benefit. Hope to see your email. Mention James Altucher in your subject line so that I can find and attach what I think you need to see to be of assistance. Great video by the way and I was first directed towards it via a Frank Porter Stansberry.

Wrong!!!! Not at all. I'm just more a methodical thinker and was looking to leave watching this with some action steps I can go apply and test out. I consume content to be educated so I can go apply it to my business. Whatever your assumption may be is 100% wrong. Kick Rocks boy...
