For people who are still confused, WayV is NCT's China Unit and they're still SM. They don't put NCT in front of their name because of the tension between China and South Korea is still high after the THAAD. Because of that everything Korean (including NCT and SM) are pretty much prohibited in China. That's why SM needs to collab with a local Chinese label(which is Label V, also owned by SM) to manage NCT China activities in there. THOUGH, they will also promoting with NCT as a whole in future activites. WayV members might debut under NCT U in this case. ex. The same problem is also why f(x)'s Victoria and EXO's Lay can't have a activities with their respective groups. They also have their label/studio to manage their schedules, but they are indeed still in SM.
