Seecamp was a Wehrmacht officer. He credits one of his survival episodes to a fast draw, pulling his Walther P38 and jerking the trigger and shooting a Russian first. After the war he became an American and anglicized his name. He made the Seecamp Conversion for the M1911 to make it into a double-single action pistol.

@@CaptainZed I bought a KEL-TEC P32 semi-auto .32acp caliber pistol that weighs 6 ounces and is a half inch thick. Magazine capacity is 7 rounds. The optional larger capacity magazine is 10 rounds. It has amazingly good accuracy💥

The late Ludwig Seecamp barely survived the hand-to-hand encounter with the Red Army Soviet soldier. The Russkie managed to shoot Ludwig in the cheek, costing him several teeth. But Ludwig prevailed over his adversary and lived to create the LWS Seecamp pocket pistol in the early 1980s in America, starting with the .25 ACP and proceeding to the .32 ACP in 1985.

To be honest, I first wanted a Kel-Tec because of the low price, small size and decent enough quality. But the P32 is not authorized for sale in California because it has no safety, a legal requirement in socialist California. I had no choice but to go with the LWS Seecamp. It wasn't a disappointment, given the established high reputation of the Seecamp pistol. The only thing I really regret is that the P32 weighs only 7.0 ounces when fully loaded to the Seecamp's empty weight of 11.0 ounces. @@unitedstatesirie7431

I bought mine new in 1991 and still carry it. It has never had a malfunction of any kind and it's small enough that you really can carry it anywhere you concealed carry permit will allow.I got my permit when I was 21 and I'm now 63 in December. Thankfully I have never had to draw the weapon in self defense, did come close a time or two though.I have put a great deal of ammo through it at the range and like I said at the beginning not one malfunction, misfire or anything. Great little piece!

Love it so much that I bought 2 Seecamp 32's. Built with surgical precision. Very comfortable and ultra concealable. My pocket carry at work when I can't carry my 1911A1. Incredible self defense value and money well spent.

When I was shopping a little over 20 years ago the Seecamp 32 was regarded as the premiere mouse gun on the market. I ended up getting the Kel-tec P-32 as it cost a lot less and was super light, and it has since gained a very good reputation as well.

I've known about the LWS Seecamp since the late 80s since I've been a purchaser of Gun/Firearm magazines. Firearms reviewers and editors fell in love with the Seecamp from the moment it made its appearance on the sales market. These men could not stop praising the Seecamp enough. It's only drawback to them for decades, was the high price and low availability and long wait times. Hand crafted in Massachusetts by a team of master gunsmiths, it took a long time to produce the little Seecamps. But the reputation for quality was well-regarded as a result and not a single Seecamp received a bad reputation for poor quality, workmanship or function. As the story or legend goes, the late Ludwig Seecamp, a German emigre to the U.S. via Canada, long contemplated a pocket size semi-automatic pistol chambered in .32 ACP. Seecamp concluded that the .32 ACP semi-auto pistols of the early 20th century were actually over-engineered and thus oversized for what the minimum size pistol frame the .32 ACP could actually accommodate. The probable reasons for full-sized semi-auto pistols chambered for .32 ACP had more to do with military firearms traditions and ergonomics than actual design possibilities. It would be unmanly and unmilitary for a commissioned officer to be walking around with a mouse gun in a leather holster attached to a belt. Thus a 'real' military pistol in .32 ACP had to be the size of a 9mm Browning, even if it didn't have to be. Ludwig reasoned further, the two shot American Derringers of the American Old West functioned nicely with calibers as large as .41 or even short .44 cartridges. If a .25 ACP can function perfectly in a small pocket pistol, surely the .32 ACP could do just as nicely in a semi-auto pistol frame the same size as a .25 ACP pocket semi-auto pistol. There was even older precedent set by tiny, one-shot pocket pistols in flintlock or later percussion cap versions. True, there was a practical limit to the amount of gunpowder charge in relation to the size of the pistol frame and barrel, but there had to be a lot of leeway with reasonably powerful pistol cartridges in tiny frame pocket pistols. Ludwig set out to prove his theory. He first proceeded on caution, manufacturing some five-thousand early Seecamp semi-automatic pistols chambered in .25 ACP. These proved successful. The .25 ACP Seecamp is a rare collector's item today. Imbued with confidence from the .25 ACP Seecamp, Ludwig proceeded to the .32 ACP cartridge. Ludwig soon discovered he could not design engineer feed reliability for both hollow point and full metal jacket .32 ACP bullets. It had to be one or the other. As the Seecamp pocket pistol's function stated very close, almost point blank defensive range, pretty much the same as an American Old West, over-and-under, two-shot Derringer, reliability remained top priority. Seecamp decided to opt for the hollow point as the best defensive option for the .32 ACP Seecamp pistol. Given the near point blank nature of the Seecamp, Ludwig left out barrel and rear sights. There was not even an aiming trough. Ludwig intended the Seecamp for very close range personal protection self defense. Ludwig believed that if someone felt the need to aim the Seecamp pistol using sights, then the Seecamp was not the right pistol for that person. The rest is history. The LWS Seecamp .32 ACP was an instant success and remains that way. Ludwig Seecamp passed away in 1989 after a long life from natural causes. His son, Larry Ludwig, took over and ran the company. In the meantime, a medium size, Massachusetts machine shop company inquired about purchasing the LWS Seecamp company. Larry initially declined. But years later, Larry found himself aging and beset with health problems. More, the team of master gunsmiths accumulated by his late father began retiring one-by-one and were not replaced. Larry Ludwig was wise enough to see the writing on the wall. He contacted the same machine shop company and learned the purchase offer was still open. Larry accepted and spent the next two years of his life helping to re-establish LWS Seecamp at the new owner's location and teach its employees how to manufacture the Seecamp pistol. Larry Ludwig proved prescient in his decision to sell. Two years after selling LWS Seecamp, Larry passed from health problems. But fortunately, it was enough time to ensure renewed production of the Seecamp pistol was well underway and at the same quality standards upheld by Seecamp. The new owners reputedly established some mass manufacturing processes to the Seecamp without compromising quality. More, the new Seecamp pistols had to be re-engineered with a safety button in order to qualify for sale in California. This was done successfully and Seecamp continues to be sold in California today. Within the last two years or so, Seecamp pistols have been reappearing in gun/firearms stores. The asking price remarkably remains relatively consistent with its initial MSRP retail price in the late 80s. It's not cheap. For the same price one could purchase .380 ACP and 9mm semi-auto pistols. But it wouldn't be a Seecamp

Nice video! Hey, will the Winchester Silvertips JHP that are “SuperX” work? This is the only version of the Silvertips I can find. Very difficult finding 32 ACP JHP ammo that measures .91” or less to fit in the magazine. Thank you.

I was astonished to learn here on KZfaq that the .32 ACP will chamber and fire safely out of .32 revolvers. .32 revolvers are typically chambered for .32 S&W, .32 H&R magnum or .326 magnum. The .32 ACP is less powerful than all three, by a huge margin in comparison with the two magnums. The .32 ACP is semi-rimmed and thus headspaces on the revolver cylinder and will not jam inside the cylinder. In two, KZfaq videos, I witnessed the .32 ACP being fired in a .32 revolver with no difficulties nor damage to the revolver nor risk to the shooter. The second tester talked about lack of accuracy using the .32 ACP. He pointed to what looked like keyhole punctures in the target paper. The lesson of the story here was that the .32 ACP is not intended for regular normal use in a .32 revolver but in a pinch when .32 rimmed pistol ammunition is lacking, one can use .32 ACP cartridges if he felt the justification for it.

Its a point and shoot, personal defence pistol, designed to be used at distances where sighting isn't required! The absence of conventional sights also makes it snag free, which befits a pocket pistol.

Felixcat9318 answered the question. The late Ludwig Seecamp said that if a shooter felt the need to aim his personal defense pocket pistol, then the Seecamp was not the right firearm for him. The Seecamp pocket pistol is supposed to be a rapid response to a dangerous or lethal threat to life, by retrieving fast from a pocket, instinctively pointing the pistol and pulling the trigger asap. In such a fast, life-and-death situation, there is no time to bring the pistol up for careful aiming.
