I've been watching this channel since probably a bit after this video came out. I have an idea to embellish one of these barrettes but need a beaded foundation and this will work perfectly!

Another way to help the beads align in straight rows is carry the thread back through the previous row and then through the row you just made before adding a new row. It's a pretty standard practice when doing square stitch :) I've been enjoying your videos for a couple of years now. I like how explain things so simply and the very clear visuals are helpful too. I don't know how many videos I've watched where it was difficult to see some of the important details. Thanks for helping beaders everywhere succeed in their jewelry making endeavors.

Been doing these for years for my daughters. Never thought of using the cord to hold them in place on the barrette. I just used a clear-drying glue or epoxy and glued the piece onto the barrette...going to have to try it this way soon.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE all of your videos!! Thank you so much for all of the time you put into them! I do have a questions about this beaded barrette.. could you make the beaded part of this Barrett on a bead loom? Instead of doing a sort of peyote stitch? Thanks a bunch! Allissa

Beautiful result. My question, however, is . . . aren't you concerned about the thread breaking from the edges of the metal barrette? In your first barrette video that uses Czech glass rounds and your other video using square beads, you comment about using extra small beading wire to alleviate breakage. BTW, I use genuine French barrette clips which are much better made than the inexpensive clips sold at local craft stores and WalMart. Love your videos! You are most generous with your knowledge and time. Thank you.

+Dee Stillman Ya know, I was thinking the same thing. What I decided to use is the nylon coated wire for the larger "foundation" beads and attach that to the barrette. Then use Fireline for the smaller embellishments using Czech glass flower and leaf beads....some hanging seed bead tassels coming from the end(wish I had a pic to show ya)....The possibilities are endless!!!

Hi Dee, I've been wanting to make a barrette with seed beads for a very long time. I can't use beading wire for bead stitching so I used a heavier thread. I was worried about the thread breaking at first, but then I realized that I am using seed beads not big heavy beads like I did in the other barrettes. Because the beads are much lighter and smaller there shouldn't be a problem with the thread breaking.

Thank you for your reply. I really do enjoy your videos, especially the barrette designs. I have made so many already and will be making several more. It's a nice way to pass the cold weather days. My daughter loves wearing them!

Vanessa Von Littel Thanks for the great idea of attaching foundation beads using nylon coated beading wire and then switching to Fireline to attach decorative beads. I will have to try that. :-)

I agree these are really cute, but I'm more focused on earrings currently. Also am looking for answers to questions about bead quality. like how can you find good quality glass pearls that are not coated? I have some from 3 places and all are coated, probably because I cannot shop high end bead shops yet. anyway, could you possibly do a video on bead education, like what to look for and what to avoid - stuff like that. I am just a beginner of a beginner beader so any help and/or tips would be helpful. thanks.
