Hi! 17"-18" seems enough for my small head when I wrap it around. Or should I just do 22"?

You can absolutely make the pattern smaller if that works best for you, just keep in mind that the fabric will stretch when you put the headband on!

Not totally clear - the second row should be clearer. This is I think known as :MOSS stitch in the uK. Alternate kl pl rows ?Thanks anyway.

The number of rows will depend on your tension. I would keep knitting until it is 22” long, then stitch the ends together.

How long do you knit it

It's about 22" to reach around the head with some stretch to it. The nice thing about this kind of pattern is the length is "adjustable." If you need it to be a little longer or shorter than the 22" you just knit to where you need to, then bind off!
