Seeding Canola in the Hills of North Dakota
In this video I am out in the field with a farmer from the Berthold North Dakota area as he is seeding his 2021 Canola crop with his new Versatile 610 Delta Track tractor pulling a Bourgault 3320-60 Paralink Hoe Drill and a Borgault 7950 air cart.

@@farmhandmike I think what has happened as he’s been turned off the Cummins engine because he really doesn’t like the engine/transmission combination in the Deere four tracks that they currently run. Everyone truly believes that if he had a Versatile demo that his mind would be changed. It is sounding like he’s over the track trend too and I would think his next pulling machines will either have large duals or triples. I personally think if he tried out a 610 wheeled machine he’d be sold🤷🏼‍♂️... and there’s a good potential for a sale of 4-5 machines on his farm.

Looked like endless obstacles. Just wish we got shot of the monitor view of the GPS monitor. If there was one. I was wondering wondering what way the tractor would turn every turn. Just had fun at every turn. Mike you put together amazing videos. This one is one of them. Thanks for sharing again.

Man, that big outfit makes that 610 DT look small. That's a lot of weight to tow up and down those hills too. Pretty impressive rig altogether.

By starkweather north dakota we have a 76.8 ft tool bar with a 700 bushel cart and a anhydrous tank on the back all together it is 147 ft long

You are completely right with the rock piles I have some rocks out here that you would need some serious mining equipment to get out the ground haha that’s why we go around them.

You should try to get one of those 610's to Mike Mitchell as a demo so he can test it on an 84 foot borgault with a 1350 cart. He'll give you a truthful straight-up review.

We parked the air seeder for the third time this year. The last couple times we found ground that would work but now all we left is last year's soybean ground and there's absolutely no moisture in it and it's hard as concrete. It's a mess up here this year

So from what I gathered is he only has the 40 bushels of seed? The rest of cart is for fertilizer or is another of those compartments for seed? Seems like with such a small 40 bushels compared to the field, drill, cart. If that’s the case how often do they stop to add seed?

All 5 tanks can be used as individual ( metering ) tanks for seed or fertilizer, Tank 1B (Flex) is only as extra capacity on tank 1 or tank 2. Specs for the Bourgaults 7950 air seeder: 950 bu or 990 bu with Saddle Tank ( 33475 ltr or 34887 ltr with Saddle Tank ) Tank 1A - 410 bu ( 14450 ltr ) Tank 1B - Non-Metering FLEX Bin - 90 bu ( 3170 ltr ) - Tank 1B only as extra capacity diverted to Tank 1 or Tank 2 Tank 2 - 120 bu ( 4225 ltr ) Tank 3 - 55 bu ( 1940 ltr ) - individual tank or as extra capacity diverted to Tank 2 or Tank 4 Tank 4 - 275 bu ( 9690 ltr ) Tank 5 (Optional Saddle Tank) - 40 bu ( 1410 ltr ) The newer 9950 has the same volume but other numbers per tank.

Hey Mike, congrats on the 85k, ... great video. 😉 You forgot to mention the 90 bu Non-Metering Flex Bin tank ( Tank 1B ), it's extra capacity diverted to Tank 1 ( 410 bu ) or Tank 2 ( 120 bu ). Tank 3 ( 55 bu ) is an individual tank or as extra capacity diverted to Tank 2 ( 120 bu ) or Tank 4 ( 275 bu ). The newer 9950 cart has the same volume but other numbers per tank.

The tractor could pull a bigger one but he told me in this area because of the hills its safe to stick with a 60 footer.

They also make a 1340 bu. See Mike Mitchell channel. They have 3 84 ft with those carts, 1 84' and 1 68' with this size cart

Except Mike’s units are 68 feet and 84 feet. I wonder if the Versatile is powering out on the hills like Mike’s units do on the big ones? It would be nice for Mike to try out a Versatile.

No, this is a 60' tool bar, Bourgault has 68' - 80' - 84' - 86' and 100' drills and a larger 71300/91300 (1300 bu) cart/seeder. But I never saw a video of a Bourgault 100' drill with a 71300 or (newer) 91300 cart on hills like this, even without hills they pull the 100' with the smaller and lighter 7950 cart (33000 lb), the newer 9950 cart with the same volume weighs 43000 lb (empty) !!!

Bourgault makes both 100ft seeders and 1300 bushel carts. Only problem is that no production tractor has the power to tow that combination even on flat ground.

@@Jaxon-iu6vb Let's assume there will be a 800 hp tractor within five years that will pull that 100' drill and 1300 bu cart, farmers then ask for a 120' with 1500 bu cart which probably need a 1000 hp tractor, it's the never ending story in farming .

@@Jaxon-iu6vb Me too, I like the big stuff, but here in the Netherlands and other European countries max. width for AG equipment is 3 mtr ( 10ft ), wider needs a special permission, also approx 10,000 kg (10 metric tons - 22,000 lbs ) per axle load. You see here also big tractors like the Claas Xerion 5000 and Fendt 1050 but not on duals, there are also some 4 tracks and articulated 4wd overhere, .... yeah very impressive to see these giants. 😉
