In today’s episode, I stopped by BentUP recumbent trike Cycles in North Hollywood, California to visit my old friend Dana, where Sylvia Halpern (Travels by Trike Truck N Trailer) is getting her trike repaired. Actually, her trike and mine are the same style and make, a HP Velotechinik Scorpion 20fs. Reminiscing with Dana and Sylvia are always fun. And hearing about Dana’s new acquisition of recumbent bike manufacturer Bacchetta is extremely exciting!

I so remember that first video... It was how I started following you back in September 2014. As at the time I was looking around for info on recumbent trikes, and your trike video popped up in my searches. After seeing it, I searched for more content about you and found out you had JUST STARTED your first "World Tour" (I think I came into it on day 5 or something like that). I even remember watching a few of those videos from the first couple of days and thinking... this guy needs a drone to video his journey, and writing you about it. So it's been fun watching your channel evolve over the years, and nice to see part of it has come full circle. The evolution continues.... Also I wish them well with the new venture with Bacchetta.

Putting a trike into the back of a pickup and then back out again is easy if you approach it right. She angles it in with the rear tire to the left once she gets it in all the way.

Hi, I really like the seat that you show at 6:44.... I have a medical reason that this seat would be good for me on my trike. Can someone tell me the brand/model, where I can buy it and approximate price for it? Thanks Dave

Rohloff makes a adapter so you don’t need that to flip the rear cog. Split ring retainer, flathead screwdriver. 10 min job.

the adapter only works for the newer Rohloff. My Rohloff is from 2014 and requires the special tool. I doubt I'll ever need to replace the cog again before buying a new trike.

@@TravelsByTrike not quite my understanding. I actually bought the adapter as I was unsure but found mine was the split ring. But the adapter simply screws on similar to the old cog setup and then the splined newer cogs slip on. I got about 2500 miles on my old chain and cog before I did the flip. Might be worth checking with Rohloff. Cheers

@@PedalPushinAK Yes, you are correct for the way the newer Rohloff cog changes work. My Rohloff is from 2014 and requires the special Rohloff cog removal tool. I only have one chain ring in the front and the one cog in the back which I think allows me to get more miles. I've used this set up since 2018 with my 1st chain and cog change.

Dana was very clear that the tool was needed for my Rohloff and not all cogs can be reversed. For instance, the 13 tooth cog can't be reversed.

Lmao my twin has a 2014 HP Velotechnik Scorpion FS26. He had i think they were called 'Trykker' tyres. We enjoyed the ride of the tyres but they punctured way too easily. He got 'Marathon Plus' tyres and it was a huge difference. Still a smooth ride but no punctures in 4+ years. Beast of a tyre. Shorter cranks make a world of difference particularly on your knees. Definitely would like a mid drive for hill climbing. I like the Bafang M620 with archon x1 controller.

What does the owner think is the best battery power system? I hear that the Bosch system is excellent. And the Shimano pedelec, but I am curious what he thinks.

The Scorpion, ICE Adventure, AZUB Ti-FLy, and the TRIOT models are the best.

Strange out of your list only Azub, Catrike make their in house. HP and ICE made in the same factory in Taiwan.

@@midknight2K -They don't have to wait multiple months to have their frame orders filled. If China takes over Taiwan, what will that mean for frame deliveries? Will things be even worse? I think AZUB ships more trikes to Utah Trikes than any other U.S. dealer. Does Triot Trikes get their frames from Taiwan?
