This video looks and feels like a Terrence Malick movie. Wonderful stuff Sir, please keep being the way you are.

A thought going through my mind watching: I almost avoided visible brush strokes in my striving for accuracy. Now I learn, that every brush speaks a language. Think through the brush;-)

Masterful, beautiful and poetic. Not just he painting, but the teaching, the narrative, the videography. And anyone who quotes John O’Donohue is alright by me.

I happened to find you on youtube and like “Who is this great artist?!” Then later I noticed I have a book of you I bought in Tokyo. I’ve drawn pictures for 10 years as my job, but your making process is still beyond my understanding. You are literally a master of brush, color, texture..etc and I also love what you target to draw, good old American things. Finding this channel is a gift. Thank you!

I can't imagine what my life was like before finding your videos. They've ignited a fire and passion inside me to rethink my art, how I see things, and returned that lost feeling of recognizing the importance and beauty in simple things we see everyday and overlook. Thank you, James!

Fabulous! I have missed your videos for too long! I was fascinated by that one hair that was longer when you were adding in the white. It seems that for me, that one hair always goes where it wants - but yours was obedient! Fabulous fade in of reality! I know that whenever I've painted out and about, I remember it all! Every layer, every sketch, every frustration will remind me of the time I spent with sweat dripping off the tip of my nose or whatever the particular day held. Living in Oregon, being en plein air up in the Gorge waterfalls can also mean that I wished for some sort of a cordless hair dryer just so I could continue!

Beautiful piece of art. And the essay you've recited was freaking phenomenal! I love the words which were recited and for visual effects, your footsteps shown stepping onto the icy patches and cracking the ice patches with each step were ethereal. This entire video was a visual sensation.
