I took my first fishing trip to Oxwich Bay (The Gower) one recent Sunny Saturday. Short session, off to a good start with a Flatfish on the drift, and a few of the ubiquitous Dogfish too.

Same, need to make an updated video! Was a species hunt beginner back then I’ve learnt a lot since and wanna put it into practice.

Love Oxwich! Going out off Aberavon tomorrow as the weather is so good, hopefully the mackerel are still about!

This is one of the only kayak fishing videos I’ve seen from this location - I picked up a Prowler 13 last week and tested it out on Caswell Gower, with no success. I assume the fishing there isn’t much different from Oxwich. Have you seen any mackerel around there yet?

Hey Matt. There are a few videos I’ve come across but people don’t always put the exact location in the title! I’ve not been to Caswell so I can’t comment, but unlike some venues Oxwich fishes any state of the tide. No mackerel in wales but plenty in Chesil on Friday ✌🏻

Enjoying the vid mate, am a local to this area, about to give Oxwich a go on the kayak myself in a few days(if this storm lets me) Out of curiosity are you anchored? I notice the buoy behind you. would you recommend anchoring so theres not too much drifting whilst distracted by fishing. Best wishes. Lee. Subscribed 🙏

I was in this video yeh, the rip got pretty strong and it was windy too. I think next time I go I’ll lure fish so may not anchor in that instance.
