@@VCCBoardRepairs I bought mine at the end of 2020, after Jessa from iPad rehab recommended it! Don't need to use it too often, but when you do it's such a time saver. For macbook boards is way more useful

It's great for that type of application. But not for component level diagnosing like what we do at my shop

got it, your reviewing an XR=extended range unit for component repair. I see that you might be demonstrating that it is not suitable for that application and it is not intended to be.

@@AutoDiag_ yes it needs to be cold outside and ideally overcast, you can look for heat outside or cold from the inside

I'm not sure. I see used XR on amazon for $167USD right now. And i dont like the XR due to the long focal length compare to the Seek Compact

High res image definitely looks nice! Although after comparing all 3, it seems that the regular compact is more than enough to do the job. Just need a macro lens for it

@@VCCBoardRepairs I ordered the USB-C version. I hope I won't regret it, it's my first thermal camera 🙂 I have a tablet and a phone with USB-C port. I couldn't resist the discount of about $200 😀 . I am from EU - Czech Republic. I don't know where I would order the stand in the EU. I found a pretty good model for a 3D Printer, so I will probably print the holder. Or do you have another idea? @@Smart112567 the USB C version will work fine. You can find the Seek Stand here. Although it's for iOS. i dont think that will work. I use a separate dedicated iPhone 7 Plus for my thermal camera use. I would recommend you do the same. Don't use your personal phone for it. Cheaper than buying a new camera for USB C

Why the Compact XR? The Compact has the same resolution and costs less

@@B.E.H. aahh! He was testing a thermocamera. He wanted to test it with a short that draws only 100mA. Instead finding a short that draws only 100mA he could just reduce the injected voltage till the short draws 100mA. Ohm's law. Make sense?

Great question. I've used the first gen Qianli Supercam and it was ok. the problem is the lack of a macro lens option, so you basically have to look at the board very far away. So it's not practical for finding shorts. You can definitely see where the heat is and in many cases see it. But sometimes, it's hard to tell which cap exactly is the short. Plus it's a lot more expensive than a Seek + Macro + Stand and it's a lot bigger & bulkier, requires a PC & can be tricky to setup The seek solution i show in the video is a much better overall solution for thermal detection on iPhone/iPad logic board fault finding.

That won't work. You need to get the USB C version if you have an android phone
