Great video! For me try to buy a reliable brand of recovery gears like Miolle recovery gears for peace of mind. Used there kinetic rope multiple times no signs of damage and worked like a charm. Nice hi-vis color makes it easy to see and, more importantly, stay clear of during the snatch. Seems very well made and robust. I definitely recommend this kinetic rope.

You should push the end through the entire rope a couple times before putting it inside that Way its locked and it only takes a minute longer Else pretty awesome guide

You do very good videos. Professional, simple but through explanation of 'How to perform, what -to-do' in an unexpected situation. I have found Life usually doesn't give one a classroom/ Lab example, rain, mud, fire, medical emergency, etc., and the best one can hope for is to have some training, back-up options, and maybe some ingenuity & luck. Amazing what a creative human can pull off if you keep your head, and your videos are an excellent training resource. Thank you.

Works like Chinese finger cuffs! Super easy I’ve done a couple repairs like youve shown but on smaller diameter dyneema for side x sides with 3500 lb to 4500 lb winches! Great demo man!

Thank you after buying new winch I can put a new eye into the old rope and that way I will have a light weight winch extension! ... that will be good reuse of old but still good rope .... Thanks again

That splice is 100% line strength so it's probably the best method out there.

No need to stitch it if you weave the tip completely through the rope a couple times before running it through the middle. Also, no need for the damper you're using there, seeing synthetic rope holds very little kinetic energy. Great video, mate!

I have put loops on the end of many a nylon rope like that and spliced two ropes together like that instead of tying them and explained to the questioning observers that it is stronger and easier to take apart than a knot.

Debating between steel and synthetic cable for when I buy my first winch, finding out you can do this definitely sold me on synthetic

When terminating the rope. I always thought it’s better to pull it all the way through once before burying it inside. This way there is an additional change of direction to prevent the rope from slipping out. Infact I’m pretty sure with ski rope you’re supposed to weave it several times before burying it

If you do not have a wire use the oil dip stick from the engine or transmission they work well. Good job with the information.

a little late to the video, but you could do a quick square knot to get yourself out. its easy to make and easy to take out no matter how tight it gets. i would still cut it to make the ends nice. it might even go in somewhat easily when you wind it back up

Think the note you added at the end about tapering should be over entire video. If you dont do this the strength is highly compromised. Great video though, as always

Could also just tie 2 bowling knots in about 30 seconds and continue the recovery. Can be easily untied after high loads since it was used in sailing and can splice once back at home off the trail or replace.

thanks for the informative video my rope split towards the hook end so will be fixing it using your second method, however I cannot find any information on stitching it anywhere as I want it to be hopefully a permanent solution, if you have any information on the stitching or could point me in the correct position that would be greatly appreciated, thanks again!

Word of the wise, some markers can be a solvent to the ropes material and cause a weak point under strain. Happens in the climbing world with synthetic ropes. But great video!

Dyneema catches on everything; that’s why they make fishing line and ballistic vests out of the stuff as well. 😊👍🏼

Not only was the winch rope was pre-cut but he also tried pulling the truck in gear. You can see right before the winch rope breaks that it is pulling the truck and the wheels are not spinning. I believe if I am out 4 wheelin', I will make sure to carry a wire rope or another synthetic.
