Wouldn't be a long death? I mean, as you get closer and closer time would also stretch. Also you would have to reach a blackhole first, which may force you to start traveling quite sooner than when you expect to die.

Watch the expanse, one of the main characters did a suit less ship to ship vacuum transfer that took about 15-20 seconds. A hyper oxygenated injection was taken about mid way but the effects on the body were clearly displayed.

How cool is this? Don't hold your breath, you'd poop your pants, get a terrible sunburn, pass out from lack of oxygen in 15 seconds, and if rescued within three minutes you'd probably survive. WAY less gruesome than I thought! Oh, yeah, and it'd be intensely uncomfortable.

Mustang Q Depends on what type of Scuba gear. If, for example, you're talking about an atmospheric diving suit, you would survive in space without any of the symptoms mentioned in the video for as long as your oxygen lasts and then you would asphyxiate. If you're talking merely about a breathing apparatus with an O2 tank, I have no clue....

You pass out after 15 seconds due to lack of oxygen. As for dying? Well... I don't think he mentioned exactly how long it would take but I would say maybe around 15 minutes? But hey! You're passed out while the process is happening so don't worry about it. :)

You lose consciousness after 15 seconds, and are likely dead after 3 or so minutes, though plenty of people have been clinically dead for more than three minutes and been resuscitated with no or minimal long term side effects. So pretty much just like drowning only more painful.

I'd have to say yes because like he said with the alveoli, the gases will get ripped directly from your lungs, even if it means tearing through your lungs into your bloodstream. That's why he said, if you notice you're going into a vacuum, make sure to exhale.

I'm sure it would. I'm scuba certified and one of the important things you learn is that you never hold your breath while diving. The reason is because if you start to swim up, the decrease in water pressure can cause the air to expand in your lungs. In some cases this expansion can cause death.

C0pyPasta the van allen belt is not something like an "impenetrable wall"... or some shit... it's nothing you can touch. It doesn't stop you at all. Getting past it would be easy as shit. The difficulty would be withstanding the radiation. Tho, it's not really that difficult. Spacecrafts are well shielded against the radiation and the radiation isn't equally dangerous everywhere. There's some spots in the belt that are really thin, making the exposure of radiation really short term. Also, you don't even have to go past the van allen belt to be in space... Space starts waaaay earlier. You'd have to get past the van allen belt to reach the stuff like the moon or mars, but space starts earlier. the iss is orbiting the earth on low earth orbit, far away from the van allen belt. The ISS orbits earth at a distance of around 250 km, while the van ellen belt starts at 1000 km away from earth. think before you write retarded nonsense.

I bet going into space wearing a sealed helmet, shorts and a butplug will be a common thing in the future for those thrill seekers that nowadays do wingsuit flying and such.

Question, is it possible to put air into a vacuous canister with out a lid? Like one air molecule at a time until it’s filled to the brim? That’s way there’s not pressure to expel it into space?

If you really were in space, and someone in a space-suit did rescue you by, giving you some of their suit's air, you would still be unable to inhale. Air enters our lungs because the expansion of our thoracic cavity creates a difference in atmospheric pressure. The pressure in your body becomes less when you inhale and air is sucked into your lungs. So unless your rescuer, pumped the air from their suit into your mouth, he/she would experience trouble getting you to breath in.
