I just buried my wife of 60 years on 7/21/22 and came across this song totally accidentally. I have tears streaming down my 85-year-old face. Thank you so very much for such a great song performed brilliantly. Many blessings on all of you. How do you have such a long marriage? Two key ideas: Forgiveness and Fierce Conversations (not arguments) but speaking our truths to each other when the inevitable bumps in the road happened. (I strongly suggest that those reading just the above take the time to read the whole thread because you will learn some pretty amazing information about what happens after death. Paul) 11/6/23 Two more key ideas have emerged. Commitment: Promise celebrated and renewed and mutual spiritual growth FULLY SHARED.

So sad and yet so inspiring for us to read. Let those tears roll Paul. I lost a wife to cancer at her young age of 55. Lots of tears were shed. Even right now just thinking about it. Guess I'm just an emotional guy. Here are a couple of other songs along that highway. Alone, by the Bee Gees. Barry and Lesley are the only survivors of the 5 siblings. Barry's mission is to keep the music alive. Born the same month and year as me, Sep 46. Also the song Memories, by Elvis. Hang in there Paul with songs. Best to you.

Durham's husband died when she was 51. She easily could have got married to someone. I believe she did not because she'd never find another "you". Durham believed in this song and that made this song real and touchy, IMHO.

All such beautiful voices. Judith's vibrato is different from Karen's... created differently in the throat. I'm no expert, but I think Judith's is like a 'cough' vibrato (like Bert Lahr's Cowardly Lion, where there's lots of power behind the vibrato. Karen's was more of a 'natural" vibrato by moving the larynx up and down. All beautiful stuff.

I was a child when this came out and my wonderful dad was a huge fan of the Seekers. I remember once in the car he started singing this song and we all joined in and sang it all the way through. We all knew all the words. It was a magic moment. From that moment this became a special song for our family. As we grew older and my brothers learned to play the guitar we often had family sing-songs and this song was never missed out. Happy, happy memories. My oldest brother introduced me to this band back in 165 when appeared on Ed Sullivan show. The whole family had to watch them but no one seemed impressed other than my oldest brother. 10 years later, I found a cassette tape their greatest hits in his garage and started playing tape multiple times a day and became so hooked on all their music. When my brother was slowly dying; I played this in the ICU unit at hospital. He somehow reacted to the music. I knew how much he loved the seekers as I have as well

Tears of sorrow and grief and remembrances of wonderful times fill this morning after her memorial service. We triumphed through our first year married, separated by war as I left her side 43 days after making her my bride to go off to fly helicopters in Vietnam. I was twenty year old dude, living in South Kensington, London SW 7. I loved watching Top of the Pop on TV every Saturday night. Old songs like this one were played each week, I’m now 79 and still listening to old songs like these on Utube, remembering the days when I was young. Yes, those were the good old days.

I too am dedicating this to my wife, who went for surgery on our 40th anniversary this year and never came home. It has been nearly 3 months and the hole where my heart used to be is still bleeding. I miss her so. She was my “someone”. No better song to express what we had

11 May 2021 - Judith Durham, Karen Carpenter, Mama Cass, and Jayne Morgan are the most singularly beautiful female voices I have ever heard. The harmonies of the Seekers are unmatched. I am thankful to have lived in this era. I graduated from Rockford College in 1965.

A timeless vocal gift. Their greatest song in my opinion. How many singers could sing better 30 years later?! Better than they did as wide eyed kinds in the Sixties. It must be the purity and joy of their reuniting that rekindled that old flame. Like an inferno! Had Judith Durham not broken away to pursue a solo career, history would have changed. The British Fab Four would have been eclipsed by the Aussie invasion. When the Beatles broke up in 1969 the chasm would have to be filled. The Seekers, aided by the larger British recording industry could have reached untold heights. No doubt even Paul McCartney would admit the Beatles had no one with the incomprehensible talent of Judith Durham. And neither did anyone else! JUDITH DURHAM COULD SING THE CHINESE PHONE BOOK. BACKWARDS!! Nobody had greater range as an artist. Or more rapport with an audience. Rest in peace Angel of Music. And long live the bands surviving members.

RIP Judith - I 1st heard your beautiful voice when I was 3years old listeing to the radio that my mother would leave running whilst she would drop my elder brother to infant school - I am grateful for my mother for leaving that little blue Philips radio running because I looked forward to the wonderful tunes of the sixties whilst I waited for mum to return and feed me - this song and Georgey girl were amongst my favourite's from the Seekers and your voice was amazing and timeless and it made me cry about my brother who died in 2021 reminding me of this song and my mother taking my brother to school - life is so short and so quick but so amazing how wonderful God is to create so many wonderful people - RIP Judith you will be missed.

I lost my 41-year-old daughter seven years ago on July 19. I just turned 73 yesterday. It’s been seven years and this song is still so appropriate and always will be not just for a husband or a wife but for the loss of your child. Thank you for this song Judith. I remember when it first came out this is my generation. It was just as appropriate back then and had completely different meaning to me since I hadn’t lost anybody to death yet. But for a teenage girl, this was seriously the boyfriend song.

This song encourages the freedom to think about who has genuinely been special and loved in our life. When one is in the twilight years before that last breath has been taken, you realize that you have been happy with the few that grabbed your emotions, and can now express no regrets that your journey took this path after all. Love those that reciprocate, because I for one will never find another you.

Everytime I hear this song, I cry now. I relate this song to my husband who passed 16months ago. We meet when I was 19 and he 21. We were married for 46 and a half years. He died at 71 years of age. When he was here, each time I listened to this song, I thought him. Now listening to this song/lyrics knowing he is physically not here, makes my heart ache with pain. But, I know his spirit is with me. Judith Durham had such an amazing voice. The seekers were exceptional. That was beautiful music. ❤❤

I am so very sorry Kevin for the loss of your beloved mother! What a beautiful song to play & a fitting song to her precious memory! My own dear mom died on Oct. 27th, 2028 & the piece of my heart that she took at her passing, can never be replaced, I miss my mom dearly & think of her every single day so sadly, I know the loss you are feeling! The pain at losing our mother never goes away nor will it dim with time. I still miss my Nana too who passed yrs ago but we played this at my mother’s funeral too. I cannot hear this without breaking down in tears! My heart goes out to you & I know you will see your mom in heaven someday( all your loved ones) which is the only thing we can draw any comfort from. You sound like such a wonderful son to your parents & I know your mom is with you now, you just can’t see her but “she is there!” God Bless! ♥️💗♥️💗♥️💗♥️💗♥️💗♥️💗♥️💗♥️💗♥️

The lady has a beautiful voice and it has not lost it's power through the years . And the gentleman😮 also sing well. Listen to it often. Thank you. Johnny The Patriot
