Scientists search for that defining "Aha!" moment - and MSU professor David Kaufman's came about as a result of his commitment to understanding a degenerative disease as well as accepting both the ordinary and unorthodox throughout his career.
David Kaufman is the chair of neurology at Michigan State University's College of Human Medicine.

I lost my vision in my left eye then 4 months later in my right eye when I was in my twenties. Steroids got me my vision back. I’m 40 now and a photographer.

HI, I was diagnosed of MND/ALS last year and i suffered symptoms for 8 months. Never had any health issues before that, but it came all the sudden and it was HORRIBLE! Thank you. This helped me understand optic neuritis and IV steriods. My mom has optic neuritis and presently undergoing treatment. High dosage of solumedrol given by her neuro-ophthalmologist on her first episode really improved her vision.

Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that. I remember my mother took some time to gain her full vision back, she is gradually improving throughout the course of the medication. I hope your father will improve his eye sight too as the treatment goes by. Just keep the faith ❤

An improvement is not a win, it's just a start. Coming off five days of 1gram of IV steriods in 2022 to recover some sight thisnis hardly what I would call a win all these years later

Dr Kaufman was my Opthalmologist who examined my eye condition and my family used to drive me once or twice a year all the way from Onaway to Lansing. 210 miles one way. Very compassionate and excellent Dr whom even though it's been 25 years since I last saw him is unmatched in terms of his field.

Hi Doc Ted, my wife has tumor that compressed her pituitary gland and optic nerve. The surgery was succesfull the tumor was taken out but unfortunately her vision was not recovered on both eyes. In this regard, we wish to ask your help regarding my wife's concern. Hopefully you can extend help or advice. Thanks Bob.

My firstt episode of optic neuritis is when I was 15 on my right eye, I’m now 17 and now both my eyes had an episode and are now damaged, and my vision is so bad and really blurry will I still get my vision back ?

I have optic toxic nuropathy. from last one and half years and my eye sight issue improving slowly. I am just taking multivitamins with ayurvedic medicine.
