Seema Haider, the Pakistani woman who previously made headlines for crossing the Indian border to marry her Indian lover, Sachin Meena, is once again in the spotlight. A video depicting Seema with injuries and bruises on her face went viral on social media platforms on 8th April 2024, sparking speculation of domestic violence.
In the video, Seema is seen displaying her swollen and bruised face, leading viewers to believe that she had been physically assaulted, possibly by her husband Sachin Meena. However, investigations revealed that the viral video was a deepfake, artificially manipulated through Artificial Intelligence (AI).
News agencies conducted deepfake tests, with Republic World confirming the artificial nature of the video. Seema's lawyer, AP Singh, also issued a statement clarifying that the video was fabricated and posted by Pakistani KZfaqrs to spread misinformation.
Noida Police, after probing the source of the video, corroborated the findings, confirming that Seema had not been physically abused by Sachin Meena. Seema herself released a statement assuring her safety and denying any altercation between her and her husband. She criticized social media influencers and news channels in Pakistan for spreading false information, particularly during the holy month of Ramzan.
Seema's case highlights the growing concern of deepfake videos, which have also targeted Bollywood actresses like Rashmika Mandanna in the past. To combat this issue, awareness and vigilance are crucial in identifying and debunking fake content circulating on the internet.
