The Carpenters had many hits in the 70s: Close to you, Superstar, Rainy days and Mondays to name a few. They were a brother and sister and did the harmonies together. You definetly should react to more of their songs, they were great!
@tomschmitz57453 жыл бұрын
the carpenters, brother and sister richard and karen were actually the top u.s. hitmakers of the 1970's.. so so many classics, including their christmas album... karen was a world class drummer as well, and her brother the arranger of their songs a world class pianist.. they did ALL of the harmonies and background vocals using the "dubbing technique" in the studio, they used other singers only when they were live in concert... this song "we've only just begun" reached #2 on the charts and was and remains one of the most popular wedding songs of all time... karen carpenter was ONLY 20 years old at the time!.. and then and now is considered one of if not THEE greatest female voice of love and romance pop songs ever...

I loved your reaction, but I'd like to make a suggestion, if you don't mind: it would be more pleasant to watch if you didn't cut parts of the song. Because when we are watching, we get involved in the song and this kind of edit kind of breaks the emotion

My aunt used to play their songs all the time so I found them that way. Beautiful vocals for sure. My fav is probably "Rainy Days and Mondays". Or the quirky "Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft". Others groups you might like from the period are The Mamas & Papas. Or The Monkees 🙂

You have just listened to one of the greatest female vocalists of all time. Oddly enough, Karen's passion was for the drums. Yes, she was a great drummer. In fact, she always thought of herself as a drummer who sang. And don't forget about Richard. The guy was a musical genius. His writing and arrangements did so much to accentuate Karen's amazing voice. I discovered the Carpenters in my mid-teens, and listened to their music for hours! I'll never forget being on horseback, working in the field, when I heard of Karen's passing, and even a cowboy like me, I'm not ashamed to say that I wept.
All the harmonies are Karen and Richard on their records

Please check out Eva Cassidy..Like Karen she tragically died young (33 of cancer in '96) and never reached Karen's notoriety, which was fine with her. Record labels wanted to sign her, but they wanted her to pick a genre of music, and she wouldn't have it..She said she only sang what she liked..Absolutely beautiful voice..She only came to be known by way of youtube, and other social media.

I really like both of you but try to stop breaking up the flow and momentum of this beautiful song by skipping so much. Just 2 skips will, easily, beat The Copyright situation.

Hey guys maybe no one else noticed but your track skips sections of the song periodically through the whole thing. Very hard to enjoy it when you only get to listen to part of it. It's a timeless classic. So anyway hopefully you guys can figure that out.
