As a Nigerian-Egyptian this warms my heart. Thank you! Thank you for speaking and showing how wonderful our mythology is. Honestly African mythology as a whole isn't talked about or shown a lot and it's a shame. We have a lot of diverse, wonderful, beautiful, interesting and amazing myths, legends and histories too!

People often focus on just Greco-Roman and Egyptian mythology understandably due to the fact that it is very important and influential here in the western world, but people forget that other mythologies are just as important to their respective peoples as western mythology is to people like me of European origin.

@@vginsprdsobepr9698 yup yup. In CUBA where am from a lot of aspects of our lives are effect by Yoruba culture. For example some of the people dress up in colors of their respected god that protects them. For woman they often dress in blue signifying that they are protected by yemoja

Yemaya has facets that are comparable to the Taino goddess Atabey. Many religions in the Caribbean still hold both deitys as sacred. Could you make a video on some of the Taino gods? I would love to see more Caribbean deitys preserved in today’s culture.

FYI: Interestingly, we indians have a river godess called "Yamuna" sister of lord "Yama" the god of justice.. and daughter of surya the sun-god. Yamuna is the one of the favorite rivers of lord krishna and she helps people attain pacification..

Iemanjá , the queen of the ocean , sometimes she seems as mermaid some times as a woman with very long black hair in a blue dress . Her catholic version is Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes, both celebrated on the same day ! Nossa senhora dos navegantes is celebrated on rivers and lakes and Iemanjá at the sea shore. From the north to south every one in the shore will dress in white , jump 7 waves and send gifts to the sea (what I think is a mess) like mirror, comb , perfumes and roses !!! Some food as well , sweets , lots of delicious sweets like quindim , cocada and queijadinha , popcorn and bottles of cachaça (Brazilian alcohol )
