You what is really cool is that the Astro City arcade stick and gamepad work perfectly on the Genesis mini 2 !!!

I hope we get a 3rd Genesis mini with 32X games but instead of making it look like that cheap model 3 Sega should make the shell look like the Neptune prototype it was going to be the standalone Genesis 32X console and it's beautiful.

I have the original Sega Genesis Mini. I would like to add the new Sega Genesis Mini to my collection.

The tower of power for the mini model 2 includes the extender for the model 1. There were some people that had a model 1 Genesis with the model 2 Sega CD because it ran better. It's cool that they included that.

If this came with two controllers, some 32X games and was in US retailers for a few bucks cheaper, it would easily be in the running for best mini.

I'd have minded if the titles were duplicated from the original to the sequel. I think it's a lovely product for the price and certainly one of the top mini's they are charging more because it has more software and Sega CD software, inflation and production costs is also something to be mindful of, the days of Mini's less than $100 are coming to an end.

It's just sad that we didn't get a Genesis branded ToP kit this time around - although I'm not surprised. It's just bewildering that even after all the response (mostly salty, of course) when Sega of America sent Genesis branded ToP1 kits to just a few influencers, they didn't even bother with the thought of releasing the ToP2 in America.

They should have come with Sega Master system mini Sega Cd mini 32x mini. Saturn mini Dreamcast mini. I think they only sell top sold console. What will be the next Genesis 3, cdx? No thanks.

The best two reasons to buy this (IMO) is Space Harrier arcade and Space Harrier II (improved to run at full speed, without the horrible slow down).

I’m really enjoying this (got the European Mega Drive version). I’d say the Mini 1 is better and all you need if you just want a good selection of Genesis games. But the Mini 2 is great if you really liked the first one and want to dive deeper, without getting into the world of roms and retro-pies. I can accept the price and single controller too - I imagine a lot of people who wanted a 6 button controller for the Mini 1 would have bought a retro-bit controller like I did, so this wasn’t an issue. But for a casual Genesis fan - the Mini 2 is definitely not good value. They should look for a Mini 1 or find one of the many compilation discs that have most of those games. The PS3 /Xbox 360 Genesis collection is a great one for that (with a lot of bonus content)!

i'd be ok with the prioce if they had included Lunar 1 & 2, popful mail, keio flying squadron, snatcher, vay, dark wizard, and lords of thunder. instead we get both ecco games, clay fighter, vectorman 2, earthworm jim 2, toe jam and earl 2, that awful train game, the ooze, that weird balancing scales game, M2's attempt to make space harrier 2 with hardware scaling which has 10x more flicker than the original... i'd love to hear your thoughts on the sega astro city mini V. LRG is offering it for like $180 after tax and shipping and with how long it takes them to ship anything i probably won't see it till next November alternatively i can get one from play asia for $200ish but compared to the first the list of games is significantly smaller though they're mostly made up of shmups, which i adore.

I bought Virtual Racing for $70 back then. Daytona come out much later than Virtual Racing like 2-3 years later. Virtual Racing Manual book is very thick. The 32x did give a little boost to VR.

Super Street Fighter 2 on the Genesis is really good especially if you get the sound driver audio fix patch and utilize that in conjunction with Pyron's color patch it'll make it more in line with the arcade

With Virtua Racer and other games really didn't look the best but that was the infancy of 3D gaming on consoles it wasn't really good until the Sega Dreamcast, Playstation 2, Nintendo GameCube and the original XBOX in my opinion but those 3D games where good for that time.

Great video. They should have included the awesome shooter - Lords of Thunder plus several other titles. They should not have included Clay Fighters and the bonus titles. They are charging more than the first mini because costs are higher now.

The original Genesis is MONO in the sound settings while Genesis 2 is stereo. You can clearly hear the sound separation.

Not mistaken that's a scaled down replica of the extender that would sit on the platter looking thing that would hold the Sega Genesis and the Sega CD and you needed the extender for the original Genesis if I'm correct

Cool video rox from Australia I just got my eu pal md mini2 amazon UK as I'm a sega collector that sold my collection like 15yo sigh anyway cool u got the new tower of power mark 2 but with inflation along w sega not being the company they were low units produced no working design games I guess it's made for people like me I hope m2 could do perfect emulation but w using the same pcb as the pc engine turbografx 16 mini the board can only do so much I just wish sega had waited added 32x support which shares sim chipset w sega saturn would have been awesome God I miss lunar and popful mail along with a better virtua racing deluxe rom maybe also afterburner and outrun instead of space harrier while cool from m2 I've seen Geneis MD home-brew from a few guys do amazing stuff w super Sf2 mega final fight M2 needs to bring home bigger better not a loco game from 1982 but as for genesis 2 mini $ the turbo was the same and had way better Japanese games excluding a few God the only English sega cd snatcher would have sold this to fans alone thing alone? As a child, I had the original Mega-Drive with the newer Mega-CD setup. So I knew what that extra piece was for. Although I regret selling my Sega consoles to be able to buy a Playstation. Kept my Dreamcast though, never sold any of my systems again. Would be nice to have the originals again, maybe with hdmi. Are those Mega-CD and 32x actually functional? Or are they just cosmetics? Though I don't know about buying these mini's. Would be cool for half an hour. And there are enough free emulators, if I really want to play a game again.

i thought the same thing about silpheed reminding me of gyruss lol. i love final fight cd. sure, the colors are "faded" due to smaller color palette on the genesis. but the sound is directly from the arcade (sound fx) and the remixed music is freakin awesome, even back then. i wish there was an option to play the original arcade music, however, if desired. ah well. the only thing is that the sega cd version of final fight is slower as far as punching goes, compared to the arcade. i could move so quick around the screen in the arcade version compared to sega cd version. but its still a good game, even though the snes version looks better (more colors), the sega cd version has all 3 characters, all the arcade sounds, better music, it wins. yes, i agree, the scanlines are blah on this thing. it's rare to see games do proper scanline simulation. if they would let you select different versions of scanlines, i.e. like the Arcade Archives games, coulda had good scanlines. i like the games more on the mini 2. there are more games i like on it as compared to the mini 1. i think the only other mini that may rival these would be Konami's TG16 mini. lastly, if u have a 5.1 surround system, some of the games sound really good on the mini 2! no, it doesnt support 5.1, but for some reason, the extra speakers make some of the games sound really good. im hoping for a Master System mini next, or a Sega Arcade mini.

For some reason virtual racing on that doesn't look right I have the 32x version which looks better then that one

was gonna order the mini 2 the day of release then noticed shipping was $30 and so backed out. it's basically $130 with half the games i feel is already on other sega compilations i already own. not worth it compared to the og mini
