It was my first SF, and was the game that finally convinced my dad to get me a 6 button. I named my 14 year old son Chess. Dont see that name often.

I played og SFII at my buddy's house down the street on SNES then he got jealous when I got Champion Edition with the playable boss characters haha

It's funny how a simple 225 Kb patch will fix all the audio in this game. Capcom really screwed up the programming of the Z80 with this version of Street Fighter II.

@@Skellotronix I will say this, everyone is entitled to one's opinion but I think that people just over analyze stuff nowadays and find offense in everything, regardless if it is true or not. Also, going to have to call BS on Simmons saying he thought it was racist when he was a kid. I highly doubt many kids back then even noticed that. Kenny I "MAY believe he felt that way, but Simmons not so much.

You got to love those underwater farts sounds the genesis made. But man I remember playing this as a kid. Pressing start to kick boggled my mind back in the day. They should of just made A punch and C Kick and B left you cycle between low,medium, and heavy. And this way before they even made those 6 button controllers.

Google+sucksballs Sega 6 button controllers came out alongside this game. Capcom had one too and 3rd party ones might predate this release. As for fart sounds... you mean when you land a kick on the SNES? It goes: PLRRRP. Sounds like someone emptied ass.

Honestly I like this version of the game and I think the songs are closer to the arcade, but yeah the sound quality does suffer with muffling. Also you completely messed up hyper mode your supposed to actually click on it champion mode is the original mode. One big advantage this port has over SNES hyper is that championship edition had a much faster turbo option due to the genesis being able to run the game a lot faster, albeit at a slightly lower graphical fidelity. Also Sega's 6 button pad will always be better for fighters than the SNES controller. To be fair, I grew up with this version I didn't have a SNES so a lot of its nostalgia talking too, either way with the arcade versions easily accessible now there's little reasons to go back to these ports other than nostalgia.

snes had better music and sound effects closer to the arcade!! And in both arcade and SNES versions when your character walks back, their walking stance changes!!

Wow~ The Genesis version looks and sounds so much worse than the SNES version. I guess I was lucky as a kid since I had the SNES and of course all the Street Fighter games that came out over the years.

xxnike629xx the graphics are the same but the sound and music are much worse on Super Nintendo. Sounds like fruity flutes and horns during Vs screen, and landing kicks sounds like someone emptied their bowels. PLLLPPRRRR!!

Andy Kaufman I have all 3 versions (PCEngine). They all run at the same resolution, so no this isn’t any more or less blurry than the others. Darker? Slightly. Again it’s fanboy nonsense, all 3 versions are virtually the same.

Requiem4aDr3Am he’s not wrong though. Most people do believe (wrongly) that the genesis version is inferior. It has a lot to do with SF2 coming out first on SNES, and the heated nature of that console war. Apharmd: that’s an interesting analogy, I never thought of it that way. Though to be fair, Xbox 360 almost always looked (slightly) better than PS3, and original Xbox ALWAYS crushed PS2. PS4 games looked and ran a touch better than One games (pre Xbox X) but in the end, it is splitting hairs.... (expect with Xbox and PS2).

Champion edition is the most played version of sf2 on fightcade it has hundreds of players at anytime I think this port is just trash …….balrog is absolutely nasty in this version of sf2 3:04
