When I was a kid I went to my neighbor's house all the time to play this on his genesis. I remember the game being incredibly hard. I don't think we ever got past the 3rd level before we ran out of lives. I usually played as Pimple. He usually played as one of the double dragon characters.

Everyone seem to prefer the SNES version when it comes to the soundtrack! i definately prefer the genesis version! it reminds me of Rock n Roll racing for the Genesis.

The "unused" track sounds like the death screen when you're out of continues.

I must've played through the NES version about a hundred times by now, and I really dig the soundtrack; David Wise had some great tunes on the system. This takes things in a very different direction, and it's great, too!

AVGN Season 4 Jaguar episode brought me here. I played the hell outta the SNES version and recognized the song, but I had no idea they put the game on Genesis, too. The music is so different.

This is one of my favorite games of all-time. It's one of the rare games to be released on NES, SNES and Sega. It was the last game I got for NES before they stopped making them. The NES version is definitely the hardest of the 3 and was the perfect game for me to end that system with. I think the Sega version is the best version all the way around - music, graphics, gameplay. As in most cases, the Sega version had gritty, dark graphics and heavier sounding music whereas the SNES version sounded too polished and looked bright and cartoonish. It's kinda like Beavis & Butt-Head for Sega and SNES: the Sega version looked more like the first 2 seasons whereas SNES looked more like season 3 forward. The SNES version is by far the easiest of the 3.

Actually, I wonder if this game uses the same sound driver from that Snake Rattle n Roll Mega Drive port, which explains the drums sounding like they're emulating the NES noise channel.

The aesthetic of this battletoads soundtrack is a lot more interesting than the other Battletoads game on the Genesis imo; it really sounds like Rare themselves were using in-house sound tech for their game instead of SMPS like they were using in OG Battletoads

Love this game. Still wonder how could they let it pass with all the cruelty going on in the game x3 Genesis was much more allowing in this, but the same game was released on NES! I was stunned.

David Wise is a genius. That is all.

I wish the snare drum on this soundtrack was replaced with the snare sample sound from either the Fatal Fury or Robo vs. Terminator. This snare sounds like a dry paint brush was used in place of an actual drum stick to play the kit.

I know this video is several years old, but I think that unused track listed is the game over theme that plays when you choose not to continue. It's been ages since I played the game though, so I could be remembering it wrongly.

Is it just me, or do the distorted guitars sort of resemble Zero Wing?

I've played this version, too. And, I get a Sonic Spinball vibe from this soundtrack. Overall, i believe the SNES version is better.

This is soundtrack AMAZING but this Snare patch SUCKS HARD!!! I will hack this patch to sound more Elemental Master like... Stay tuned!

Genesis version is way superior over the SNES synthetizer, there is no space to discuss about. Ratship at 14:36 is the major proof.

Sad that the music doesn't sound as good as the super nes version. What confused me is that Yuzo Koshiro figured out how to make the music sound soo good on the genesis in his games streets of rage, revenge of shinobi and so forth. Other composers couldn't do the same for it.

SNES has a better OST, but the Genesis game does everything else a lot better than the SNES game.

The Drums in this version are pathetic compared to what the Genesis is capable of (Even FM wise) I guess Dave didnt have full mastery of the soundchip as he did with SNES cause his SNES OSTs are phenomenal

Inside the Ship got butchered compared to the NES and SNES versions. This soundtrack feels like Wise in general didn't know what to do without the limitations of the NES or the instrumentation of the SNES. Those poor drums...
