Episode Notes:
1. All games captured using MAME.
2. I have seen the CPS labeled as both the Power System and Play System for years. I prefer the Power System.
3. The CPS Changer wasn't really a console at all. It was full arcade boards sold in a housing that was similar to the CPS Dash. The actual CPS Changer itself was essentially just a Supergun that connected to these full-sized boards and supported SNES controllers and connections to a TV and power source.
4. Look for most of these in modern collections. Just search Capcom using your favorite service.
5. Many of these were ported home in the 90s. They were rarely ever arcade perfect, even on the Saturn and Playstation.

The CPS Trilogy and The King of Dragons push my nostalgia buttons for innovative hack and slash gaming. The era of Street Fighter 2 was a true renaissance for fighting games. Reflecting on these titles isn't just a trip down memory lane for me, but an homage to a transformative period filled with camaraderie and joy in gaming. Great vid as usual!

Great reviews! As much as CPS2 was an improvement, I have so many fond memories of CPS1! Fun fact: Capcom released Megaman Power Battle on both CPS1 & 2! In the US, the CPS2 version never made it past location testing, but in Japan, SA, and I think Asia, it got a proper release. I managed to aquire one of the few US test boards years ago.

The King of Dragons is one of my absolute favorites of all time! I dropped many coins into that machine as a teenager at the time. Me and a friend were the only two people in our city to beat the game on a single coin and we competed against each other to see who would set the record for the day. Sometimes I would set the record in the morning and it would stand for the entire day. Then my friend would play late in the afternoon and take my record down. I would do the same in return the next day. It was awesome fun. At some point we figured that if we didn't grab the weapons updates at the end of the stages and stuck with the crappiest possible weapons all the way to the end of the game, that means the enemies would need to be hit way more times and that translated into A LOT more points at the end! So we finished it on a single coin and with the crappiest weapons for maximum gains :) But of course, this game is not nearly as hard as Final Fight for example. It wasn't the hardest to beat. Nowadays when I play it in MAME, I need at least half a dozen coins to finish it, since my brain is not as fresh. Still a ton of fun though, all those years later!

I had a bunch of FF's in my area in the early 90's which are now all gone, and one location was a movie theater that opened in 1989 near me an AMC but they have no arcade games now, and the other place a hot dog place in the shopping center by the movie theater near me which is now a Kumon learning center, the Final Fight was in the back right of the hod dog place in the 90's. I saw an article in a game magazine in 1990 about the upcoming Super Famicom in Japan which was released Nov 1990 and there was an article on the Super Famicom Final Fight which originally had the Industrial Area on the map, but appeared to to be a one player and only Cody and Haggar. When I saw the arcade for the first time I thought it was one of the best arcade games besides the original TMNT by Konami at the time. But, when the SNES FF came out, I got the SNES and FF as a gift from my late mom Dec 25, 1991 who passed last June 14, 2022 in the hospital because her lungs were weak, and I played FF I was disappointed. I took our new SNES down to my aunt and uncle's house (my mom's only sister) they lived 45 miles away from me and they have a son and daughter and my male cousin played Super Mario World, FF and Sim City on SNES and they had an NES with Mario Bros. 3 in another room. My uncle passed away March 31 to strokes.

I prefer Konami beat em up because they weren't timed limited (they used something else to force the player to move forward - like dropping bomb in X-men or spamming bad guys in Vendetta) Also Konami's characters look more well-proportioned. Capcom had this slim/tall physique look for their characters, with some really weird contortion poses going on. Capcom, however, nailed that satisfying feeling of solidly hitting the baddies. In some of Konami's games, it feels like you are hitting air.

One interesting thing to note is that Quiz & Dragons's Japanese release had a major visual overhaul with the character designs when it came there a few years later. They also included a bonus modified version of the game in Capcom Classics Collection Volume 2 that changed the questions to Capcom-related ones. Also strangely enough, the music for the game was recycled for the CPS1 puzzle game Pnickies for whatever reason.

Street fighter II: the world warrior will always have a special place in my heart I remember playing for the first time in 1991, it was at a pizza place and had no idea who to pick so I selected Blanka since he seemed like a tough one who can make some damage. I was 9 years old and never seen so many Buttons for a game before but that just boosted my curiosity to try and play. I got my ass handed to me against the computer but I tried again and again.
