[TURN ON THE SUBTITLE] Tekken 5 intro is PS2 classic OST. The music has history and shows you gameplay King, Devil Jin and others from Tekken.
Tekken 4 was a public and critical failure for changing all the basic concepts of Tekken. After the console release, director Katsuhiro Harada resigned from Namco due to the pressure he felt being responsible for the company's biggest game. He only came back a year later after his old supervisor convinced him.
But some people at Namco were jealous of the Tekken Project, which got in the way of assembling the team for Tekken 5, which was made for the System 256 board and its own engine. To facilitate production, Namco used Natural Motion's Endorphin program to use artificial intelligence to calculate impacts, movements, reactions and all of the game's physics.
This impacted gameplay which was fixed. Tekken 5 cut almost everything that was implemented in Tekken 4 and returned with almost everything it had in Tekken 3, improving everything. The new features were inspired by Virtua Fighter 4, such as character customization with different items.
The Tekken 5 arcade was also notable for having PS2 controller input and the Tekken Cards, which registered customizations, name, ranking and everything else online. Attitudes made the Tekken community grow, with players like Joey Fury, Anakin and 4gottenkazama, now known as Tasty Steve.
The ost was made up of game professionals, anime producers and pop idols. The Sparking theme song was composed by Jeff Pescetto and Tom Leonard, Pescetto being a long-time behind-the-scenes composer composing for films, performing with celebrities and singing overtures for cartoons such as Darkwing Duck, Chip and Dale and Duck Tales. For the visual part, Digital Frontiers was hired even without having great successes in the curriculum. After the success of the Tekken 5 intro, the Tekken 6 opening and the Tekken Blood Vengeance movie were commissioned along the same lines and the company started to work with brands like Metal Gear, Resident Evil and Super Smash Bros.
Tekken 5 was released for arcades in Japan on September 1, 2004 and sold over 6.2 million copies winning multiple awards. Its success surprised Namco who already planned Tekken 6, but had to put the project aside to support Tekken 5 with updates Tekken 5.1, Tekken.net, Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection, Tekken 5 PSP, Tekken 5 DR PS3 and Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection Online. Harada became an executive producer for the franchise.
