We are still testing the Segway Navimow H3000E incl. Vision Fence, i.e. camera. Last year's initial results were sobering. Weight distribution, turning maneuvers and GPS navigation could still be improved. Now, after a long period of tinkering, we have completed the Pro package for the Navimow H3000.
2 aspects have now significantly improved the robot: 1) the additional traction of the Pro Package and 2) the much finer drive control during turning maneuvers. As a result, we have had hardly any problems or failures on our test area in the last few weeks, even though some areas have demonstrably poor GPS reception and have slight inclines.
We have not yet been able to test the Navimow i108, the very small battery capacity in conjunction with the narrow chassis, which could have disadvantages on uneven surfaces, suggests that the models are designed for very small, very flat gardens.
The Navimow series is still not a machine for steep areas, but in conjunction with the Pro package, there is a much broader field of application. Traction is also crucial for odometry and therefore for navigation in areas with poor satellite reception.
In the video, we explain how to better assess the garden in terms of GPS reception and which constellations are obstructive or cannot be mowed with an RTK robot.
The video also shows a comparison of the cutting pattern with a Zucchetti Ambrogio robot that is over 10 years old. The Navimow can't keep up here, but delivers beautiful paths. It's up to you to decide which you like better, the nice even carpet provided by the random navigation or the straight mowing paths. Both systems have their advantages and disadvantages.
RTK and cordless robotic lawnmowers still work with limitations. Be it Huqvarna Epos, Nera or even Luba, the basic principles of GPS RTK are always the same. The stability varies and is very dependent on the external conditions. Great technology if the garden is suitable.
