Great video as always. I'm going through withdrawal waiting for the season to open up for more riding and videos. Thx. Ref Segway, any company wanting to bring a SxS to an already crowed market had better have a very good product given that the big players now have to do a lot to remain relevant and competitive. Price, bang for the buck, quality, service, support and accessories. It is significant to say the least and there are many current manufacturers, those who've been at this game a while , who still do not have their act together.

They really hit it out of the park with the styling. The way the cage integrates with the body is nice. Like the oval slots in the door. I also like that it comes properly equipped with roof, bumpers, kickers and winch. Im definitely a RZR guy and like the canams as well. This is the 1st option i have seen that I actually like the styling. I bag on the KRK and Honda but this shows promise IMO. Yea, could use some clutch tuning and maybe play with a few things down the road, but I think they have a winner here. Great video . . you really know how to do a solid review.

Thanks man. Glad you liked the review. As for your comments, I agree 100% with what you are saying. I think the cage looks cool but after inspecting it I feel it could use a bit of work. As far as styling is concerned I like it. I think if they added a nice full door this thing would have looked amazing. It has a really sporty and sleek look to it. Fit and finish is quite nice. We need to let them work out all the little gremlins and see how they do in the longer term. Then we can cast a better judgement. First impressions are solid though.

Its styling is definitely a standout, and I appreciate the attention to detail with features like the oval slots in the door. It's great to see a well-equipped option for off-roading enthusiasts like us. Great job on the review! Very informative and look forward to seeing you review the hybrid. For the price point listed you do appear to get lots of value with Segway when considering the street legal kit, harnesses, roof, nice digital gauges & touch screen, reservoirs on the shocks and decent sized tires. Be curious to see how the aftermarket takes to these and see what accessories Segway makes available and at what kind of pricing. Most importantly to me would be seeing how durable, reliable and serviceable these things are overtime along with how they handle warranty claims. I'm not convinced to trade in my RZR but could be a contender for me to consider down the line. Keep up the quality Canadian content!

99% of the companies are using the same parts from the same vendors to build their sxs. Being competitive financially makes that necessary. Durability is subjective, however the average sxs is very durable for the common driver. NOT the enthist that thinks they are a trophy truck and shoudnt break.
@AdrenalineJunkieProd

Hey man. I agree with everything you said, excellent comment. I 100% agree that we need to wait and see how these machines hold up in the long term and how Segway supports it's customers through warranty and accessories. Only time will show these things. I think how well the aftermarket supports this chassis will be based on how many units they sell. It's a supply and demand thing. Hopefully Segway plays all their cards right, if they do there is definitely some potential here.

Nice looking unit, looked a bit sketchy when you really get into the throttle. Does it run an open rear diff ?. One thing I didn’t really like was the 4x4 switch. Looked like after thought and they ran out and grab one of a Yamaha grizzly 660 lol. Overall seems legit and congrats on being the first to check it out. 👍👍

@AdrenalineJunkieProd 3 жыл бұрын
It wasn't too bad in the high speed actually. The tire pressures and shock settings could of used some fine tuning. It has a locked rear diff as well as open I think. I didn't get a ton of specific info on it before using it so a lot of the details are still unclear to me. I'm hoping to learn a bit more about it. As for the 4X4 switch, it seems a ton of the other "off shore" UTV's use this style of switch. I am not a fan of it either but it does the job.

How was the cabin heat? If any at all. That's one thing I look for before I buy a sxs. Can't stand riding on a beautiful hot summers day and the cabin heat is burning you and your passenger and your favourite beverage is boiling. By the way love this new contender! For the price and for my style of riding tight trails and little of mud and gravel roads it's right up my alley. I hope they come out with a 64 inch wide model

Nice looking SxS...what makes it different? Where is the added value? Suspension? Motor? Cost? Dealer network? Right now I don't see anything unique about their powersports offering just more mid market products. Whos motor and clutch set up, who actually makes the shocks? If they wanna sell SXS they gotta have the best shocks with adjustability, good harnesses, more hp with a turbo, and a good gps screen/radio and a 64in model . I was set on a X3 XDS until I saw the Pro XP Ultimate in person. I backed out on the X3 XDS

The Pro XP Ultimate is a beast of a machine. If I was out to get a brand new machine then it's the one I would get. As for the Segway, they do have a 64 inch model, I was provided with a 72 inch model to test here. Segway builds the engines and the shocks are branded Segway. I am assuming the shocks must be out sourced to a company that specializes in suspension. Not sure if the engines are assembled in house or also outsourced. I'm still learning about these. I wasn't provided with too much concrete information on the units. Hopefully next time I get a chance to ride one I'll have more information. As for a turbo model, I don't think their eggs are in that basket, their flagship model will be the Hybrid which is supposed to have around 197HP.

@AdrenalineJunkieProd
@AdrenalineJunkieProd 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Brad. I agree, you get some decent options out of the box. I heard they are using CVtech clutches which is good. I do think they need to dial in the clutching both for high speed and low speed. The machine could be snappier in high too, it feels as though it could put the power down better with improved clutching. In low it definitely needs some work to improve crawling and reduce belt slip. These are things I'm hoping they will address before a lot of units are sold. I'm also not convinced regarding the durability of the roll cage. on a scale of 1-10... it's hard since I still want to try a few things before I judge them too hard. I'd have to hold out on an overall rating for now. I am trying to be open minded. If I was forced to judge it in it's current state let me give some context on the performance of 1000CC machines. A RZR XP 1000 being a 8.5/10 A Maverick X3 (non-turbo) being 8.5/10 A KRX being a 7.5/10 A Maverick Sport being a 7.5/10 A Yamaha YXZ being a 7.5/10 In it's current state I would have to rate the Segway somewhere between a 6.5-7/10 with the potential to score higher if they can figure out the clutching issues. If the clutching was perfect and it proves to be reliable in the long term then I can see it scoring around a 7.5-8.5/10 no problem. Please take the above ratings with a grain of salt. I am generalizing. It's just supposed to give some perspective. I wouldn't score any 1000cc machine 10/10 out of the box.

The designers of this machine gave more attention to beautiful looks than making a functional design like the Polaris. The Polaris has a higher roof with more straight lines for a reason. Also it is more boxy for a reason. Also, the rear bumper is there for a reason. All these elements are to stop the machine from rolling when you tip it on its side. The higher roof brings the machine to a stop compared to the Segway that its roof is lower with more curves. In case it tips on an incline, it will roll down the hill like an egg. Also, the rear is as round as an egg. Also the front is like an egg. The designers of the Segway should pay more attention to function than beauty and LED lighting. The Polaris rear bumper creates a sharp corner to stop the curve of its body. Same functional elements can be found on Polaris entire body including its roof. I think Segway is in its infancy stage without much invested on design. As long as it looks cool, that is what matters to them. It is years behind Polaris with its bidirectional clutch, on-demand 4wheel drive and functional overall design. A mistake if you trade in your Polaris for this.
@AdrenalineJunkieProd
@AdrenalineJunkieProd 3 жыл бұрын
Hey man, I can't argue a lot of the points you raise and in all honesty, I'm not here to argue for Segway. I drive a Polaris and have driven a Polaris RZR for over 10 years. There are many reasons I choose to own a RZR and you list a few of them. I will be the first one to say I am nowhere near ready to trade in my RZR Turbo for another machine. However, I love the other machines too, I love competition in the industry, I love variety on the trails and I love trying new vehicles. I wish Segway the best and hope the have a good team in place because this will be a difficult journey for them even if things go well. It is a tough market and users demand a lot. Polaris and Can-Am have set the bar very high. I think the cage in general needs work, I saw flaws right away. The clutching needs work. I'm sure there will be other growing pains but that is natural and expected. I think that if Segway is smart they will find some good consultants in the industry and really work hard over the next season or two to iron out all the wrinkles in their design. They need to find some people that truly understand this niche from more then a textbook perspective. If they can do this then they will have a chance at competing down the line. They are a big brand, they should be able to pull it off if they execute correctly. I can't wait to try the Hybrid and if I was gonna get a 2nd SXS I would consider something like the Hybrid model as it would be a fun experience.

@@AdrenalineJunkieProd Again you have been helpful offering help. I hope they read your post and ask for your help. Who knows better where the property line of the land is besides grandpa? You get my analogy? These people should do more research and ask for help. The world has many nice people like you ready to help. They have to understand why the jeep and the Mercedes G are so square. Why their windshield is perpendicular and not aerodynamic. Everything has a function. The windshield is perpendicular to be protected from any rocks that fall from cliffs on trails. It is not that they don't have any taste in design. Also, the tall boxy cage of the Yamaha rhino serves a purpose. In case it tips, it will stop and maybe slide but not keep rolling like a ball. When you design a trail vehicle, you have to consider safety and function. You must keep it as boxy as possible. As square as possible. As many sharp angles as possible. You don't make it look like a sand dune buggy. Segway has to redesign it from the beginning. At least they can try to minimize the amount of mud that enters the cabin. It's like a mud shower in the cabin. The entire vehicle needs to be redesigned. The CEO is your friend and I bet he'll reach out to you for improvement ideas. They will come out winners.
