Seifer uses "Zantetsuken Reverse" to defeat Odin in FINAL FANTASY VIII Remastered

4 жыл бұрынIf the player has recruited Odin from the Centra Ruins before reaching the top of the Lunatic Pandora in the story, he will appear in the battle against Seifer. Seifer counters the Zantetsuken and destroys Odin. The Zantetsuken sword is knocked from Odin's hand, and a mysterious figure reaches out of a dimensional portal to catch it. This is Gilgamesh, who replaces Odin for the remainder of the game.
It is possible to still acquire Odin after the time compression has occurred, in which case the player can keep him till the end of the game.

I think it was a brilliant move scripting this reaction. Seifer is supposed to be Squall's overconfident rival. Odin shows up whenever he wants to and simply eliminates your enemies. Giving this opportunity for Seifer to face down insta-death and WIN was both a chance for him to side-step min-maxing veteran players' playstyles, and to establish himself as a credible threat to both experienced players and new ones. He kills the only GF you were unable to truly control simply by posing. Love this scene. Stroke of genius.

Squall: *Spends the whole game acquiring powerful upgrades for his weapon and amassing allies in order to finally gain enough power to kill a GF beyond his control.* Seifer: *Wounded and abandoned, lifts the same gunblade he's weilded since the start of the game and does the exact same thing as Squall by standing still and striking a pose before the fight even begins* I know Seifer is a jerk. But he's also the man. Making him a great villain.

I want to know how Seifer can one-shot Odin and then turn around and be the wimpiest boss in the game every single time you battle him.

Simple he had the timing right and triggered a critical from his gun blade. Unfortunately that was the only time he got it right. At least that’s my guess.

I always wondered if the original Metal Gear Rising trailer borrowed the Zantetsuken slash animation… Raiden literally cuts apart an enemy in the same fashion with the Kanji characters appearing after each slash.

This scene was literally: Seifer: "You can't beat me!" Squall: "Oh I know...but HE can." Seifer: "Who's 'he'...?" Giglamesh: **Erupts from a mountain to help connect these scene to it's Thor meme** "Now I have them all at last!!"

this was so silly 😂 the way they imply that Seifer didn't even move and Odin just walked into Hyperion (I don't think it was supposed to be some iaijutsu/iai strike type shit...where the swordman move faster than you can perceive type shit...) but then gets one shot himself by Gilgamesh...very goofy. im not mad at it but lol
