Makes we wonder if there's not a 2D analogue to meta-materials lurking around the corner, something showing properties slightly exemplified by "Rubik's Revenge", resulting in flexible objects deforming over a parametric space of shapes all mathematically constrained.

My least favorite part of Seifert surfaces is that they're actually useful. Now I can't make fun of mathematicians for doing ridiculously complex math for the sake of math :')

what 3d printer do you use Henry?

I use Shapeways' "White Strong and Flexible" material, which is nylon plastic, made on an EOS SLS machine.

What tool are you using to create the stl / 3mf? Openscad? Mathematica?

I think we used a combination of Sage, Python, and Rhinoceros.

I sell things at www.shapeways.com/shops/henryseg. Unfortunately, high quality 3D printing is very expensive in comparison to injection molded plastic.
