Thanks for the information. I also did the same thing with the Goo Gone on one of my higher end watches. Just turned the watch over onto its face for less then 24 hours with the bezel barely submerged in the Goo Gone and my insert slid right out the next morning. Easy and didn't risk scratching my case or crystal. Keep up the videos !!!!!

Great vid. This is so much more helpful than other watch video where you have to put alot of elbow grease to remove the bezel.

Many adhesives, but especially double-sided adhesives, are synthetic solvent-based adhesives. Therefore, they dissolve with a synthetic solvent. The strongest of the synthetic solvents and the one that does not harm the material is the synthetic-based thinner. I do the same process in 2-3 hours. I don't need to wait 24-48 hours. Likewise, when I take the watch 2-3 hours later, which I left in a very small amount of synthetic thinner with the bezel down, the watch and the bezel insert are already separated by themselves. The worst part of this process is that synthetic thinner is harmful to human health and smells bad. For this reason, this process should not be done inside the house, but in the garage or on the table on the deck. The watch inside the synthetic thinner and the container in which you put it should stay outside in a ventilated place for 2-3 hours. When the process is over, both the watch and the bezel insert and hands should be washed several times with plenty of soapy water. In other words, it is very easy to separate the bezel insert from the watch, but the stages of attention to health and cleaning are more difficult. Here, I should emphasize that the thinner to be used is SYNTHETIC THINNER. NEVER USE CELLULOSIC THINNER. THIS VARIETY OF THINNER IS BOTH MUCH MORE HARMFUL TO HEALTH AND SERIOUSLY DAMAGES THE WATCH BECAUSE IT HAS A VERY THIN STRUCTURE AND IS VERY SHARP.

@@ABC-cd7de I don't think so🤔 They wouldn't use something like pure acetone on nails, right??😅

Many watches are waterproof, but that doesn't mean they are resistant to everything. Sometimes different solvents will have different surface tensions and different interactions with material interfaces, which can bypass the "waterproof" barrier. The vapors can slip through the seals and dissolve grease on gaskets or lubricants in the movement. It can also move grease/lubricants around to places they aren't supposed to be. I would strongly recommend just popping the bezel off and only soaking that part... It's quite easy to do

Brilliant would solvent not effect the metal casing though ? Cheers

Great video. What would you use to glue it back on?
@BrokeWatchFanatic2 жыл бұрын
I used hypo cement. Or search for the double sided tape specifically for seiko bezels.

Hey so I have the SRPE74 model and wanted to know if doing this would affect the cases gold plating?

I'm not sure about that one, sorry.

Do you know if mineral spirits can do the trick? It's a very light solvent/degreaser.

NO. Take the bezel off first!!!! You will fuck up your seals even if you dont see it yet
@BrokeWatchFanatic2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I wouldn't risk submerging the whole bezel. That's why I did it half way just to get the insert soaked.

@@BrokeWatchFanatic if it touched the crystal then it can wick itself into the seals

@@melody3741 There's another video where the guy tested it on the seals alone and this stuff doesn't affect them at all. For what it's worth.
@Wessathemessa Жыл бұрын
Quickest way to screw up your watch. The solvent will wick to the seals and dissolve them. Just for risk it. Remove the bezel first.

What if you have a bezel with for example painted markers, wont the solvent remove the paint?

Or, for misaligned bezel inserts!. Which i am doing right now for my orient star diver. I used goo gone for my insert removal. Than will place it back correctly. Hate looking at a misaligned insert.
