Looks very much like it came from 10-15 years ago, and the gunmetal variant reinforces it further; I don't feel that bezel has aged particularly gracefully.

I would think that at least aesthetically, there's a number of Citizen Promasters that capture the busy pilot look

I have a very similar non-solar alarm chrono which is at least 13 years old. 7T62 movement, integrated bracelet - but the dial is identical in layout to these two. Fascinating to see that they’re still using the same basic design.

I echo what someone below said. Make your own one Marc. You could clean up if you made a solar version in three different colourways.

Only learnt about the E6b slide rule & wanted a watch to own so chose a new Seiko gold 7t62, old gold 7t32, gold v172 & a mate got a silver v172. So many flight masters to learn about, I’m sticking to collecting only ones with 70min/1.10hr display. Wish I could find all the models like these. They’re my first watch collection & thought to build a set of all different types, is it a good idea?

The Seiko SSC607P1 is probably the closest "In Production" chrono that replicates the SNA411, minus the Alarm/Second Time function. Unfortunately I think it's only available in Asia.

What does the alarm do? Audio, tactile?

I got my Flightmaster new about three years ago for £250 and now they are £400+ and going up and up. I'll hold onto mine for now.

A little while ago I picked up a SND367PC, mainly just to scratch the chronograph itch. It is basically just a watch with a stopwatch, though it does have a split function, also: 100m, 7T92 movement, mineral glass, folded link bracelet with hollow links (however, the main concern, I do have hairy arms and it hasn't been painful to wear), and generally under $100.

I wouldn't consider those to be anywhere close to a flighty. I've got SNA411, 413 and 414, just because I like the flightmaster so much. I would LOVE to see an updated version of it from Seiko...or Islander (hint).

Citizen Promaster Sky CB50XX series is basically THAT very updated version of both SNA411 and also Citizen Nighthawks. CB50XX series are imao amongst the best and most beautiful slide rule/ pilots watches on the market today, even amongst watches like the Hamilton Converter Chronos. Exceptional quality and design that Citizen does with these watches.

Do you know where to get bracelet links for the Flightmaster?

How about an Islander with a whizwheel bezel? This former C-130 navigator would likely get one! Maybe call it the “Island Hopper”?

Marc, dated for the 90s is good for now. Matches the current vintage trends, but with solar tech. I can see the black one on a tropic strap as a decent travel watch. But I have to agree with everyone, not a Flighty.

I don't completely disagree but I actually went with the SSC369 a few years back as a pilot replacement of the flightmaster. Even without an alarm, the airplane second hand is really popping out with the log ruler around the dial, also with some yellow markings. Not sure it's still made but it sure looks like a modernized flightmaster Cheers!

I have the SSC277 and I love it! Not quite the same but its close.

Marc, it may interest you to know that Seiko apparently doesn't even have parts for them anymore. I sent mine in because the start/stop pusher quit working, and they sent it back to me not repaired with a note that said "sorry, no parts available". Disappointing to say the least.

I find the seiko essential series to offer great looking watches at a relatively low price. Every time I’ve handled one however, I find the quality to be a little bit on the cheaper side. If you don’t care about watches and just want something that looks good, they are perfect, and I’m sure will last a long time. As a watch obsessed person (like most who view these videos) I think it would be worth it to step it up to the prospex series, some slightly higher priced citizens, islander, etc.

Sorry Marc, but poorly choice of "replacement" for the flighty ! Not you fault my friend, nothing can beat the seiko flighty in the pilot watch under the seiko branding. Bisous :)

You know. You could just buy both and switch out the dials and hands. I think that blue dial would look great inside the gun metal case, and vice versa. 😂

Maybe I'm nuts but I want a solar Flighty GMT, 200m WR. Orange chrono hand, orange-tipped GMT hand. Larger hands than than on the original Flighty. Not going to happen.

I have a gold Flightmaster that I picked up for about $200 a few years ago and always meant to pick up the normal stainless with black dial. Guess that explains why they kept getting more expensive. Kind of a shame because I like the tool watch look of the Flightmaster with the bezel being just at the edge of the case so it wears quite small for someone like me with small wrists. The other reason this worries me is mine has stopped being reliable even after a battery change it will randomly stop. Might mean repair parts will get harder to find. Shame they never got a popular for modding as the SKX.

Umm, they’re a bit tacky looking. Especially that fussily styled fixed bezel. And no slide rule. Just a plain old quartz analogue chronograph. Not an alternative to the Flightmaster IMHO. The whole styling of these Seiko’s seems very 90s too and dated as a result. The Flighty is timeless, due to its strong tool watch aesthetic.
