Awesome review on a legendary classic watch. I owned and wore this watch for over 22 years in a brutal work environment as a meat cutter and this watch took a beating. One of the best and toughest watches ever 😀👍🏻

I really like my SKX009. I have several more expensive watches but the SKX009 gets the most wrist time. You are right, the SKX has a lot of character and that's the best general description of it.

It took me quite a while to understand what's all the fuss is about with the SKX. I have one for a number of years but didn't really appreciate it until recently. It's truly a classic.

Very funny to see the MX5 similar to SKX at the end. I had lot of BMW's. Last year i've bought a Miata for fun car beside the actual BMW. Few months later i sold the BMW because i didnt use it. Since i use the Miata. I iam a watch collector too, in last month i bought an SKX007. I have several expensive swiss made watches Rolex, Panerai, etc. but i wear only the SKX since i bought it. Miata and SKX have some magic feeling what the others cannot produce. The fact by something is high tech is not enough. Japanese wizards :)

My SKX (J version) is always in my watch rotation and worn regularly. I have expensive brands too but the SKX will always have a place in my collection.

I bought one this year just like yours. It is iconic, reliable and does have great character. The lume is second to none. Mine is quite accurate. Just a super cool watch that every collector should have.

My brother gave me one of these then 3 years later traded me an A35 yellow dial to get it back. My wife has since bought me another 009 because I missed the first one. Wonderful watches.

The T34 of watches is the Vostok Amphibia which can be handwound and is easy to mod regulate and fix

Great Video I bought my first Seiko Divers watch iin 1986. I have a SKX175 on its way right now,can't wait to get my hands on it. OK Japanese engineers are great I drive a subaru Outback and own stock in the company.

Mine is on an engineer bracelet. Looks great. Power reserve on the other hand, not so good. Hopefully this will improve as the watch ages, it’s four months old.

I tiny bit of silicon grease helps a lot with the feel of screwing the crown in our out. (Same with the bezel turning, if that's anything less than buttery smooth)

my skx is +11 secs a day from day 1 out of he box. that works nice, every 5 days (55 secs), i move the time back one minute and back on time again. wish the movement was hacking, sure would help.

Nice video, thanks. I own both the Seiko skx009 and the 007. They are reliable, robust, and worry free watches. In fact, I tend to wear them more than my more expensive timepieces. They are respectable keepers for me.

Thank you, that strap is 20mm, so I don't recommend getting that one, you can buy 22mm 3-color NATO strap anywhere.

That NATO actually doesn´t fit properly, it is 20mm (SKX lugs are 22mm) but you can get same color 22mm NATO almost anywhere, for example: natostrapco.com/collections/all-watch-straps/products/the-patriot-nato-strap-w-polished-hardware-22mm

I was going dumpster diving.. an found 4 of these in there.. All in 1 medium sized shoe box. Indivually wrapped in plastic.... Im not a seiko wearer.. But i have them stash away..

Brought a smile to my face. Recently purchased the 09 for $180 in LA and enjoying it a lot. Yes, has character, reminded me of my Datsun 240Z. Learned a few things from you, like the dial actually being blue. Not my first Seiko Diver, also have some of the Big Boys $$$ and the humble quartz Casio Duro Marlin (like it). Great review, just subed.

I don't get it? Why wouldn't you order a skx009j2 instead of the k2. The j2 says 21 Jewels, and made in Japan. Unlike the k2. Wouldn't the j2 be more valuable when it comes time to sell it... Hmmm
