In this episode we review the Iconic Seiko PEPSI SKX009. Classic time piece that still holds relevance today, just as it did over a decade ago. A must have for any watch collection.

My 009 and 007 sit proudly in my collection amongst Rolex Explorer, Breitling Colt 41, Tudor BB58, Omega Constellation, Hamilton Khaki King, Tissot Visodate, Seiko Chronograph quartz. They are so special and just become part of your life. Purchased mine years ago from Long Island Watch $180-007, $190-009 on jingle jangle jubilee.

i have may skx pepsi edition i bought $1600+ way back 2018 and still very gorgeous and one of a kind just every 5years maintenance is enough to run this forever 😊 every people watch enthusiasts always ask me this peice of arts .

I still have the SKX173 I bought brand new in 1998. Wore it everyday day for 16 straight years and is the watch that lead me down the Seiko rabbit hole.

I have one I put a blue rubber Crafter Blue strap on it. I also have a Seiko 7002-7009 I bought in 1991. It still works and I still wear it. Great video.

Just a couple weeks ago I purchased a new old stock SKX011J1 from Creation Watches and I swapped the rubber strap out for a brand new stock SKX bracelet. I’m loving this watch 👍🏻🍊💯

I lucked unto a 2018 SKX (at a bargain price) three years ago. The case was near mint. The movement was a basket case. Seiko service put it back together, and it now runs like a Lexus. I like this even more than my Flighty.

The SKX 009K and J versions can be bought used from 3 to 4 hundred dollars in good condition. Great video by the way, this iconic watch deserves all the praise!

Fantastic video and I wholeheartedly agree on the long term value of this watch. Interestingly, my lume pip is also off, and it’s the same as yours-slightly to the left. Have you considered taking your bezel out and realigning it? Long term, one could send the watch to Long Island Watch to be realigned I suppose.

Like almost all seiko’s the QC alignment is never on when it comes to bezel lining up at the top. I just leave them that way. Seiko quirk lol. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I also have this SKX009 and couldn’t agree more with you on your thoughts about this watch . The SKX is one of Seiko’s best watches ever made . @@DivingIntoWatches-jb5ri have you ever reviewed a Sumo yet ? Especially the first or second generation Sumo? Another Seiko legend. I own the second generation Sumo SBDC033 aka the Blumo .

Great review. I've just had my 009k "serviced" by Seiko UK. When it came back, the movement had been swapped out and replaced with a new J movement. Over the moon with this and as far as accuracy is concerned, it's spot on. My 007 goes in for service next month.

I sent a Seiko Chronograph Quartz to be serviced at Seiko Service Center in Mahwah NJ . The watch came back with a new quartz movement but everything else was a disaster. They polished the case and bracelet when I specifically ask they wouldn’t. They over polished the bezel and distorted the edges. The watch came back with a completely differed case back that read 10BAR when my watch is only 5BAR so there’s a mismatch with the dial. When I mentioned this to Seiko they said it was sent it under those conditions but I could send it back and a technician could inspect it. NO thanks. The service was inexpensive but I would be terrified to send my beloved SKXs there when the time comes for service.

@@DivingIntoWatches-jb5ri Update: My 007 has just been in for service at Seiko UK. It is now running superbly after a number of days on the wrist. Have also since my last posting picked up the 011. It runs very acurately so no need to service at this time. Man I love the SKX family.

I’ve had several through the years, but I always ended up selling it and re-buying another one soon after. I just bought another one about a year ago at a really inflated price and this time it’s staying for good…well hopefully! Lol

I completely agree with your view on the SKX007/009 etc, I too have a '009K1 on a rubber strap and fully intend to keep it that way. I also have a 'Moded' 009K1 and love that too, along with my 011, that's another great watch, if you like orange! I'd like to see you compare the SKX009 with the NY0040 as they're both iconic 'affordable' Divers watches?

Great idea! I own both and i personally prefer the citizen, but.... I love more the SKX!

@@DFlemming Yes, I totally get that, the NY0040 is technically a better watch, but the SKX just has something that the Citizen doesn't, presence perhaps, that dial is just as iconic as the 'Sub' is and much more attainable too?
