Thank you for this very honest review Daniel. Very instructive since you wore the gi for a year.

The biggest thing wrong with this dogi is it's ridiculous price. It costs more than my uniform and belt from Tokyodo (including embroidery) combined. I agree with the other person who commented, Tokyodo is one of the top companies in Japan and not even that expensive.
@danskarate9975 жыл бұрын
I haven't worn a Tokyodo gi yet I'm sure eventually il get one and I agree the seishin is very overpriced and even though it is a nice gi there are better ones out there kaiten sovereign is its nearest counterpart and its much cheaper :)

I have in fact just got two new Tokyodo International Athelete 0 dōgi... They are light to medium weight... If you'd like to see them, look for me on FB or Messenger... I'd be happy to show you. 😉👍

Glad I found an honest review as I was thinking of buying this GI but very reluctant because of the hefty Price. I want to try Arawaza GI's, apparently they are brilliant.

try the kaiten sovereign, it is microfibre cotton and by far my longest lasting gi. 6 years and counting

I agree with you on the pants. I sowed an elastic band in mine. But for the rest, love it.
@danskarate9976 жыл бұрын
Jaimy Groenhuijzen I agree elastic would be better and don't get me wrong it was comfortable but for the money it wasn't worth it for me

Kamae haven't shut...I was speaking to them only last week? get in touch, I'm sure they still do their own brand and 'Kaiten'...www.kamae.org.uk/products-karate_suits_gis.html

Peter McNally I recently realised it was kamae online that shut down not the company itself lol I will be hopefully ordering more gi from them soon
@petermcnallt12pm6 жыл бұрын
Yes pal but they haven't, I sent a link their and was talking to Bob the other day about ordering, the website is up and running they are just making improvements to it, but can still order and they still show Kaiten products on their site! :) Thanks for this review....have been playing in my head over and over about this gi, sometimes i like it sometimes i'm not sure...the price point is one of the dearest gis ever that i have seen! can get a custom made one in Japan for cheaper....just not sure....the trousers was worst for you?
@danskarate9976 жыл бұрын
Peter McNally thanks for the link as for the seisin gi you can get a kata master or kaiten both good gis and I prefer them to this one I think if your going to pay that price tag for a lightweight gi then you will want to go with hirota but the kaiten sovereign is practically the same thing and is much cheaper
@Irishtrucker5 жыл бұрын
You said in the review that Kamae have shut down ?? I just ordered a new belt from them today and the website is still offering Kaiten gi’s
@danskarate9975 жыл бұрын
I thought they did but they are using there old website now a minor error :)

Excellent review. A lot of dogi, even cheaper ones, seem quite all right at first, especially if your former one has reached a sorry state. After a year, though, you really have a sense of whether your money was well spent or not. Gotta ask: does anyone actually wear a dogi twice without washing? I train in Japan ー that would be unfathomable even in the dead of winter. Sweat + mildew = very unpopular, stinky guy at the dojo!
@danskarate9974 жыл бұрын
It is a test of time I guess and I usually wash my dogi everytime but thicker gi can last two lessons before needing a wash it depends how they are treated when made
@woodsdavid28874 жыл бұрын
@@danskarate997 I've worn Shureido and am currently rocking a Tokaido at present at my current dojo, both made of the heaviest canvas. After an hour, they can hold no more sweat. It's literally dripping steadilly on the floor like a coffee maker after an hour of practice (no fans allowed, sadly). Anyway, different training conditions, I guess. Thanks again for your good review.

exactly what I thought: overhyped and overpriced. You pay way too much and it won't last. Just go with a well known Japanese brand and they will last you a life time like mine did.
@dolanduk48554 жыл бұрын
With that money I'd rather buy 2 venum absolute gis.

I went to Okinawa last year and I tried it on. In my opinion this gi is too expensive and it doesnt worths it.

i wouldn't pay the 200€ , i have been using a white diamond from blitz, although not wkf approved, i did buy a blitz kyota kata gi which was 12oz, but they have changed it now to an odachi 14oz (not tried bought one yet), but i do love the white diamond, been throgh loads of different gis, tokaido , hayashi kata gi, i still think white diamond beats them on quality as well as price.
@petermcnallt12pm5 жыл бұрын
White diamond has been turd for a few years, inconsistent cut, come with stains on them, some have the labels and that awful blitz embroidery, some don't...wouldn't use them or put them up against Japanese makes...that said, blitz do good products and my other gi by them (most recently zenshin) have been very good
@wadoryujujutsukempo62895 жыл бұрын
@@petermcnallt12pm i'd have to admit that the cut does differ gi to gi, not had one with a stain, it is a good work horse gi, and compared to the seishin price tag, i'd go white diamond every time. Its not my best gi, i have a 12oz kata kyoto from blitz (but this has now been replaced by the odachi) i looked at the zenshin (i like (12oz gi), but don't like the euro cut. I have had a number of gi, hayashi, tokaido and recent venum kata elite. The worst gi ever is the venum, trousers feel like they have been cut wrong, you can't lift your leg properly, As if seishin were not expensive already, just watched jesse enkamp say they are doing a supreme gi, heavier weight, but the name implies more money , i dredd to think how much..
@JunoShoeshineArt2 жыл бұрын
the collar, hem I think is far behind Japanese products. That's indisputable (to me tokaido is a quality product for cotton)
@danskarate9972 жыл бұрын
tokaido is quality for sure when it comes to cotton unfortunately for someone of my hieght the cut is just not good.
@norwichbabe49916 жыл бұрын
i'll have the gi :) lol
@danskarate9976 жыл бұрын
norwich babe if you want one by all means get one but for the price there is a lot more on the market that does the same for less hirota and kaiten are good examples
