I’ve always thought about this fight, both are old and past there primes but they have great experience and technique. I’d love to see an actual lore wise battle

I loves how boas fight always end up on same path with lorewise like in somegame a lorewise powerfull world ending character has a auck gameplay/kit unlike their lore. While here owl always knew he aint stand a chance against a monstrous sword saint isshin who is known as unstoppable killing mechine. Owl and the rest of inferior ministry only halt their attack due isshin alone, thats why genichiro is desperately became immortal and other because he knew isshin is old and sick. Without isshin ashina would be as good as dead, then when isshin sickness became so bad inferior ministry finally launch the assault they waited for so long and owl knowing isshin is already on death phase, he mustle all of his power to challange isshin and yes his prediction is right old man isshin is defeated by him. Something that he may only dream back when isshin still killing mechine. And yet the fact the battle end up nearly draw (owl end up single hit away from death) shows how the old sick dying isshin manage to fight equal with owl(although owl is indeed old, we can say owl isnt sick and dying like isshin, he still healthy and doesnt far away from his prime) the winning factor for owl is the fact he is shinobi and use many trick and item while isshin is a samurai who only rely to his skills alone and glock when he was younger
