ライブ・アンダー・ザ・スカイというのは本当にお祭り騒ぎだったんだなぁと、改めて思う。

Much Thanks Rage Kawasaki for posting this. I'm pretty sure I was at Select Live 90 - definitely remember'92, (I still live near Mukogaokayuen station). I love and miss Chick, but Spain is not one of my favorites. I wish Al had sung 500 Miles High or Light as a Feather. I love Al Jarreau ... 'Mornin' was the constant shopping background music for PC Depot at the time, and I have spent hours trying to learn a solo guitar version of 'Moonlighting' while singing the lyrics. But for the life of me, I can't even remember Al's performance of Spain, and I don't think it was just because of the choice of song. At that time, there was enough space in the middle seating area to spread out a picnic blanket and kick back and lounge, eat, and drink while listening. In the far back, on the top of the hill surrounding the venue, was a string of kiosks selling yakitori, takoyaki, etc. But what really caught my eye was one kiosk selling fruit flavored shaved-ice (kakki gori) and another kiosk selling, along with assorted beers, little bottles (or shots) or rum. It didn't take me too long to put one and one together and and voilá ... instant frozen cocktails! I was probably unconscious by the last set. 🤣 But why I suspect I was there ... I have an original CD of Masahiko Satoh's 'Randooga' ... sounds like an instrumental mix of Mongolian throat singing and Weather Report. I would never have discovered that album had I not been at the show. - steve
