I got the second question wrong. When I went thru the answer choices, I initially marked “C” as false because my initial instinct was that side rails can be a source of danger for some patients as they can get stuck and suffocate. But then I second guessed myself and said “well, they never said this patient was confused..” so I changed my answer to True. When you said the bit about not second-guessing ourselves I felt like you were talking to me lol. Thanks for this. I feel better about my first exam already.

So I love and appreciate your videos. I’ve only watched a few and after just failing my NCLEX the one thing that sticks out is the level of difficulty difference. I’m sure yours are easier as you’re teaching us. But the NCLEX, lmao. They were way harder. Especially the priority which I’m usually good at.

For A, I thought a hyperglycemia environment can increase the risk of infection. Therefore, wouldn’t glucose checks help ?
@Rickidaone Жыл бұрын
While yes microbes can thrive from hyperglycemia, the action of just checking glucose alone doesn’t directly decrease the risk of infection
@ApplePearAcaiBerry Жыл бұрын
I also thought the same! Infection causes a stress response in the body by increasing the amount of certain hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline. These hormones work against the action of insulin and, as a result, the body's production of glucose increases, which results in high blood sugar levels. (took that off google). Then wouldn't glucose checks also help identify an infection so interventions can be done?
