On the 25th anniversary of Selena passing, we did this reaction. Thanks for the request! Clearly an old recording, but a great performance.

I heard of her when she passed but never heard or saw her until 2 mos ago, when I came across her on KZfaq. I am officially obsessed. Never seen a more captivating and complete PERFORMER. Been watching her performances and interviews. An extraordinary person in every way. Her dancing is extra special on Enamorado de Ti - Live at Premio Lo Nustro 1992.

Como la flor was one of her most popular songs. She won a Grammy for her album Selena Live. Which is pretty incredible to listen to. Selena singing live is just amazing.. I had the fortune of seeing her perform quite a few times and she is just incredible. Cant believe it's been 25 years.

Such an amazing, engaging, beautiful free spirit. Does anyone know how truly difficult it is to dance like that while singing live, and still sound that awesome? Unbelievably talented! Thanks for posting. This was so fun to watch watch. Cheers!

I remember watching her performances. My parents would watch musical shows on the Spanish channels and she was on those quite often. Never got to see her live but my friends and family in Texas did. I was about 12 when she passed. We listened to Selena all the time when I was younger, I still do. I remember exactly where I was the moment I heard she had been murdered. Some relatives had come over to visit, I was in my mom's room laying on her bed, banging my feet on the wall lol. I heard my mom's friend say "mataron a Selena" (someone killed Selena). I froze, didn't know if I had heard correctly, then I ran to the kitchen and said WHAT?! Turned on the TV and it was all over the news 😩😩. Her songs are timeless. Anytime we have a dance/party, we always play her music. Selena's talent and charisma was out of this world. No one like her♥️

Yeah I remember where I was. It was a Fri and I had just gotten home with my baby who was 7 mths at the time. Turned the tv on and there it was, the whole drama played out for all the world to see. I could not believe what I was seeing. This is SELENA'S 25th Anniversary and my son will be turning 25 real soon. She was a beautiful soul who didn't deserve to go out like that. But SELENA lives on bith in spirit and in our hearts. 💝🎈

I was 19, in a car with three other girl friends and we were driving somewhere to go for a small hike. The Spanish station radio DJ broke the news and we were all shocked and saddened. Then the radio station proceeded to play some sad songs (‘Como’ from Luis Miguel is the one I remember most). And it was all over the Spanish news that night too. 😭

I was born in 96 a year after her passing but I always somehow knew Selena ever since I could remember, it was almost natural to know Selena in a Hispanic household lol my uncle had her CDs & my siblings & I would listen to them on repeat! & watching her movie would always be a treat “Selena’s ON!” But it wasn’t until I was 15 when I fully realized who Selena was when I saw her for more than her amazing music. I fell completely in love with her down to earth soul. Every year Spanish channels do specials on her & they would show her performances & I remember always wanting to see more! The specials would l astall day long! She was on her way to superstardom, on a rocket ship! & I think we can all agree that there hasn’t been an artist like Selena past, present or future! It’s sad but she’s truly irreplaceable. She’s been gone for more than she’s been alive now :/. It’s probably one of the most frustrating things that has happened to our community because it’s something that could’ve been prevented & something so unnecessary!

She was so gracious, gentle and kind to her fans. Fans would always sneak on stage to dance with selena, and she'd always dance with them. She was definitely the people's queen ♡♡ I come from a small town in texas and she was always putting on shows at the dances and rodeos here. My cousin always went when she came into town ♡♡

Unfortunately, I didn't get to meet her or go to one of her concerts. I was introduced to her by my mom when I was about 10 years old she was telling me about Selena and even had a Selena cassette that l immediately played on my boombox and ever since then I have not stopped listening to her and learning new things about her. Myself being a Mexican-American she has been a great inspiration. She is the only performer that I can't get my eyes off because I want to know what move is she going to do next. Long live Selena!!!!

I became a fan since mid eighties and I saw her live at Six Flags over Texas on 6-4-94 and in McAllen Tx. Six Flags broke an attendance record that day!! It was an awesome concert. Emilio Navaira performed that night as well . When she passed I felt I lost a family member. It was hard to process what had happened that day and I remember my family and friends just so heart broken. When the radio DJ came on the air on Kick FM Dallas and told the world what happened . I swear time stopped for a second. The the radio DJ was crying and he started playing Como La Flor and I never ugly cried for a performer like I did when Selena passed. Thank you guys for playing her music and keeping her memory alive!!❤

She was so nice. Her fans would jump on stage and she would never get upset. she would keep on performing. Also this song is so fun! the instruments! my goodness! the guitar and drums/percussion so much talent. Also, she gives her all every performance no gimmicks or crazy costumes and props. Imagine how huge she would have become. She's the original Queen! the videos are old now but if you know her music you appreciate the instrumentation and melodies. Gone way too soon!

I became of fan of hers around 90/91when Baila Esta Cumbia came out. I was about 12/13 and I absolutely adored her. I would try and dance like her always. I never had the pleasure of seeing her live. I remember we were supposed to see her in 94 at a festival here in El Paso Tx but the weather was horrible so we didn’t make it and I was soo disappointed. When she died, I will never forget it. My dad and I were driving to pick up my mom from work and they announced it on the radio and I was a mess. It was as if a family member passed away. I was a senior in high school when she passed and it’s something that I don’t think I will ever get over. She just meant soo much. Watching her videos now brings me joy and I’m glad her legacy lives to this day, but there is also soo much sadness of what could have been. Viva la Reina Selena! Thank you for doing reactions, it always brings a smile when people who were not fans of her necessarily learn to appreciate and love who she was and what she embodied.

I just remember following her since 1990 as a teenager! We were just a few months apart! The first time I heard her music I was like " wow" loved " baila😊😆 cumbia" but just watching her grow and become better each year!!! She literally mastered speaking Spanish! It went from speaking a word here and there to full sentences to a great interview! I would say in the last year or so before her death she really pulled it off and just overall performance and clothing style changed :) :) she is a star!! An absolute STAR! She is like a time traveler! Look at some of the videos..the people look like those times but NOT her..she looks current and revelant! Enough said..enjoy you guy's reactions always! Great job..

I knew of Selena y Los Dinos in the 80s. I have always watched spanish tv even when I didn't know Spanish and I love Latin music, women, culture, etc. I re discovered her in like 1993 maybe before then. I became a REAL fan. I researched her in resent years when I drew my first Selena portrait. I wanted to know more. I discovered things we have in common, and how much alike we are personality wise. Plus both of us were born April 1971 and I love pepperoni pizza as well. I love her . Beautiful soul.

It's so beautiful to see how you love Selena as much as we do. I remember knowing about her when she passed away, I was like 4 years old back then and here in Colombia (Latin America) people were really sad about it and her music was everywhere. Amor Prohibido was her most popular song here.

I was on outside duty and when I finished I was asked by several teachers how I going to handle the latest news with the girls, especially the older ones. Being the School Counselor, I asked Why?!? Then I got the news. I was devasted!! I couldn't believe Selena had passed. She had just performed at our local fest. Most of the girls were still on a high from watching her at the fest. We got through it by talking about it to decorating bulletin boards, magazines, cutting gluing pictures and lots of TEARS. It was one of the hardest things I had to do in my career. I loved that young lady.

The day she died , I was in school hearing her new album on Cassette tape, and for some reason I went to go to the restroom just to get out of the classroom , I was in eighth grade. I walked back in the classroom as I was hearing her new album I saw everybody crying and I did not know why, I missed the announcement on the intercom. So it was our last class of the day. I got on the school bus hearing her songs and everybody on the bus was Quiet and they looked in shock, still crying. I arrived to my apartment complex , headphones still on and I was walking up the stairs and I heard crying noises, I paused and took off my headphones and thought what was that. I put on my headphones and I open the door and my mom was there waiting for me, she wasn’t a work. She said are you ok? I asked why. She replied she good mio ,she, Selena passed away.. my headphones were on my shoulders and I had my Walkman in my hands , the song was Su una ves was playing and pressed pause and I felt this energy, as if I wasn’t really awake. I Fainted and my mom caught me, I came to on my bed and I turned the Stereo on to KTFM and I heard she passed away from being shot and a lot of people were crying live on the radio. I remember we had just saw her on tv winning awards in a awesome purple outfit. I was waiting on her English album and we saw her live in tv the purple concert....and I just couldn’t move. On that day I had a Selena nightmare of her calling for help and I was yelling in my sleep and my mom had to make sure I was ok, she gave me some water and I said SELENA MOM SELENA, something bad in going to happen to her... it 645am on March 31, 1995. Every-time her Anniversary comes up I think of those of that memory. I’ve grew up with her music through my mom but it was when I was around 12 years old I stated to listen to her and my mom said, you only like Selena because she the best in that Industry. So for awhile I only heard her and Emilio. The first song I heard in the car with my mom was photos y Recuerdos on the radio and ever since then I was hooked.

I saw her twice live. I saw her in feb 1995 she passed on March 1995. She was amazing live. Her dancing, carisma and showmanship were ofc the charts. You can see. We had goosebumps watching her. We all knew a local stage was becoming to small for her. We excited for her English transition if she made it we made. She show cased my culture, dance and music. It still hurts! No JLo. Does not represent a Mexican American culture. She is extremely liberal for most Mexican American taste.
