This song has two sides you can understand, the first one is that the girl wants to get the love from her boyfriend (or ex boyfriend) but he couldn't give her the love she deserves and when he finally lost her he realised her worth. The second one is that she needed to lose him in order for her to love herself on her own and stop depending on others who can't give her the love she deserves.

Honestly , it must have been so hard for her. Justin should have waited until she recovers from her depression , anxiety knowing that she just had a kidney transplant. They both were equally responsible for the toxic relationship , but the marriage thing was just fucked up. T_T
