Self Image Psychology expounds on some of the harmful messages promoted by the western media. Sheikh Yassir Fazaga points out how these common messages damage the Muslims self-image psychology. Among the many things discussed in this presentation are examples of proper self-respect and self-reverence from the lives of the Companions of the Prophet Muhammad (s). In addition, sheikh Yassir Fazaga mentions common acts that entail lack of self esteem, such as the changing of Muslim names to non Muslim ones and the changing of the Islamic identity in general. The mere nature of this discussion reveals how Muslims today really view themselves. Like DigitalMimbar on Facebook: www. TheMimbar

Wonderful presentation, what a great speaker. Thank you for sharing on video. My life is better for it. I felt very happy when I saw there were women in the audience.I hope they can understand English, or there is a translator. This message is for everyone, to prevent others from abusing them, and from themselves abusing themselves by believing harmful messages that come from other people, or television, or any media outlet. Some parts I find hard to believe, like GAP saying outright that they are trying to teach young girls to dress sexy (even though they probably are doing exactly that in some shape or form). I also couldn't find anything about Oprah saying that if you dress too conservatively you become invisibly, though I wouldn't doubt she would say that in the past. Right now, i would doubt it, because it would conflict with her TV persona in her crappy feel good channel. I also don't agree with the statement that if you dont find a cause which is worth dying for then it is not worth living. what causes are worth dying for, and who decided this? "Something worth dying for' is a weird statement. There is not such thing as a thing worth dying for. You have to decide on your own, there exist things worth dying for, and then you must come up with a value system, that separates what is worth dying for and what is not. Is based on your personal values, and as such its made up, subjective, relative. You also dont HAVE to be nice to people that are cruel to you. They are adults, and if they hurt you, the consequences are that you will not trust them anymore. Trust has to be earned. If you are nice to them regardless of what you feel, or what they have done, you remove responsibility from the equation. Its not tit for tat, its cause and effect. Its accountability. You would not let go of your ethics or morals by withdrawing trust. They do not deserve your trust if they violate it. The effect of violating your trust is losing it, and they will have to EARN it again. They are accountable for their actions. You do not turn the other cheek when they hit you. You withdraw, because the relationship with this other person is not in good standing anymore. This is rational. So you are still doing what is right which is putting responsibility where its due.

Self Image Psychology- hardcore lecture. Though there are lots of positive Image about Black Americans but Gang, Sport, and Art are the most Images people have about them that because of the Media. Same!- the negetive Image that is presented daily about Islam by the Media is what most non-muslims are likely to remember.
